Catholic and Planned Parenthood "lobby days" fall on same date this year, but don't expect a showdown

Likely by p ure coincidence, the California Catholic Conference and Planned Parenthood have scheduled their annual legislative lobbying events in Sacramento on the same day this year -- April 22.

But don't expect much in the way of fireworks as the public policy arm of California's bishops and the state's nine Planned Parenthood affiliates bring hundreds of followers to the capital to press legislators on their respective agendas. The Catholic Conference's agenda makes no mention whatsoever of unfettered, tax-funded abortions in California. Abortion didn't make it onto the Conference's list of legislative priorities.
