By John-Henry WestenPHOENIX, August 7, 2009 (LifeSiteNews.com) - A resolution adopted by the 127th Supreme Convention of the Knights of Columbus yesterday on "Defending the Right to Life", has reaffirmed the worldwide organization's firm stance on the sanctity of life.
Whereas some Catholics have recently shied away from fighting against decriminalization of abortion, the Knights reaffirmed their "unconditional support" for "full protection in law for every human being from conception to natural death."
The resolution specifically targeted for criticism the US health care legislation noting that it will "accomplish by stealth many of the aims of the so-called Freedom of Choice Act, including federal funding of abortions for the first time since adoption of the Hyde Amendment in 1976."
The resolution also warned of the upcoming "measure to legalize assisted suicide" in the Canadian Parliament.
