Were there to be no support in the whole history of ethical and moral thought, were there no acknowledged confirmation from medical science, were the history of legal opinion to the contrary, we would still have to conclude on the basis of God's Holy Word that the unborn child is a person in the sight of God. He is protected by the sanctity of life graciously given to each individual by the Creator, Who alone places His image upon man and grants them any right to life which they have.

PHOTO OF "FAMILY DAY" IN ROME
Today is "FAMILY DAY" in ROME
VATICAN - WORDS OF DOCTRINE - 'Family Day', alias Dies Familiae,
Rev Nicola Bux and Rev Salvatore Vitiello -
Vatican City (Fides Service) - In just over forty eight hours there has been convoked in Rome a 'Family Day': expression chosen by Italian lay Catholics backed by the Bishops' Conference and no few non-denominational associations which nevertheless recognise themselves in the convocation's identity. But how did we come to this? How did we come to the point where we must organise a demonstration to defend and promote an identity which, before any religious belief or political opinion, is society's most natural identity: the Family?
The path, although its manifestation may appear swift and hasty has deep roots. They lie in that “dictatorship of relativism”, of Ratzingerian memory, which characterises our epoch and mainly the West.
In fact relativism cannot tolerate the existence of universally shared objective truths and consequently, tends progressively to annul all differences, including indispensable ones such as sexual differences. This is why relativism can be considered the “cause” of the unacceptable proposal to invent “new style families” juridically equal and to the Family and allegedly similar to it.
In the meantime we have all experienced that the Family is a real fact, the place of realism par excellence: the human, affective, educative and spiritual environment in which the individual learns necessarily to face reality, alterity, differences, entering in this way that dynamic choice between good and evil, true and false, which will mark his or her entire life.
Prospective, that of realism, at the antipodes of relativism and by the latter abhorred: it is impossible for relativists to affirm whether a thing is good or evil, and even less if it is true or false.
The attack on the Family, then, is not simply defending presumed non existent rights of recognition in the ambit of public law, of questions easily regulated by private law. Behind, there is much more.
To attack the Family, with the consequent proposal of a “weak family” (because weakly involved in the public forum), is aggression on the ultimate, perhaps only place left where we learn to be realists. The goal of cultural relativism is to remove all curbs from one's personal "dictatorship" and the greatest curb, impregnable because real, is the Family. In this sense the relationship between relativism and the attack on the Family is also of the final order.
However the relativist cultural set up, besides contradictory in itself, reveals all its “non liveability” and existential "suffocation": it is impossible to live without ever distinguishing between good and evil, true and false. The human heart, created for all that is good, true, beautiful, will know how to react to this new dictatorship rediscovering spaces of freedom and certainty. We are for reality, for the Family, for this Family Day which we would rather call Dies Familiae. (Agenzia Fides 10/5/2007; righe 36, parole 466)

Should We Deny Communion to Dissenters on Church Teachings?
![]() |
| ((VIDEO message)) |
Dear Friends,
When I told Sean Hannity in the March 9th interview that I would indeed deny him Communion for being a public dissenter, this provoked - or rather renewed - a vigorous debate about the whole issue. There is a lot of fuzzy thinking on this subject, and a lot of people may be surprised to know that the Church has some very clear ideas about receiving Communion.
I hope that this final installment of the Spirit and Life mini-series on contraception will help you understand a little better the whole reality of what it means to be "in communion" with our Church and, through you, educate cultural Catholics on this fundamental truth of our Faith.
May God bless you and your families in this Easter Season!
Sincerely,
Rev. Thomas J. Euteneuer

FR. FRANK PAVONE'S COLUMN "READ IT FOR YOURSELF"
Every pro-life activist should have on his or her desk the book by abortionist Warren M. Hern called Abortion Practice. It is a medical textbook on how to do abortions, and it provides us with the educational material necessary to win the war on abortion - namely, the descriptions of the abortion procedures. So many argue about abortion, having never heard a description of what it is.
Take, for example, the abortion procedure called Dilatation and Evacuation (D&E). Through this procedure, the child is dismembered within the womb. Hern describes the procedure at various stages of pregnancy, starting at 13 weeks. I quote here from the section "21 to 24 Weeks Fetal Age":
"The procedure changes significantly at 21 weeks because the fetal tissues become much more cohesive and difficult to dismember. This problem is accentuated by the fact that the fetal pelvis may be as much as 5cm in width. The calvaria [head] is no longer the principal problem; it can be collapsed. Other structures, such as the pelvis, present more difficulty....A long curved Mayo scissors may be necessary to decapitate and dismember the fetus... "(p.154).
Another abortionist, Martin Haskell, describes the same procedure. The following words are from court testimony. Please note that he was testifying as an expert witness about legal activity.
"Let's just say for instance we took a different view, a different tact and we left the leg in the uterus just to dismember it. Well, we'd probably have to dismember it at several different levels because we don't have firm control over it, so we would attack the lower part of the lower extremity first, remove, you know, possibly a foot, then the lower leg at the knee and then finally we get to the hip."
"When the abortion procedure is started we typically know that the fetus is still alive because either we can feel it move ...or... we actually see a heartbeat as we're starting the procedure. It's not unusual at the start of D&E procedures that a limb is acquired first and that that limb is brought through the cervix ...prior to disarticulation and prior to anything having been done that would have caused the fetal demise."
"When you're doing a dismemberment D&E usually the last part to be removed is the skull itself and it's floating free inside the uterine cavity...like a ping-pong ball floating around ... Finally ... a nip is made out of some area of the skull that allows it to start to decompress. And then once that happens typically the skull is brought out in fragments rather than as a unified piece, the result being that sharp bony edges of the skull are exposed" (US District Court for the Western District of Wisconsin, Case No. 98-C-0305-S).
Some people are tired of the abortion controversy in our nation. Frankly, I often wonder whether it has even begun. Maybe when it becomes more widely known that things like what I quoted above are legally occurring every day -- maybe then the debate can begin.

"In Cordibus Jesu et Mariae"
After 21 Years, Pro-Lifers Vindicated Of Racketeering
Chicago, IL - May 9, 2007 - The National Organization of Women (NOW) was handed a final defeat yesterday as U.S. District Judge David Coar once and for all ruled that federal anti-racketeering laws cannot be applied to pro-life protesters, putting an end to 21 years of litigation that resulted in an unprecedented three trips to the U.S. Supreme Court.
Joe Scheidler, head of the Pro-life Action League in Chicago, hailed the long awaited ruling as a victory for free speech and said pro-lifers can now offer help to women outside abortion clinics across the nation without the fear of being sued under the anti-racketeering laws.
Judge Coar also struck down a 1999 national injunction that NOW had obtained against Scheidler and others. The cases involved in the ruling were NOW v. Scheidler and NOW v. Operation Rescue.
"Throughout the twenty-one year battle, we never allowed the legal issues to interfere with our mission of saving lives," said Scheidler. "Our capable legal team, led by Thomas Brejcha of the Thomas More Society, Pro-Life Law Center, handled the Courts, while we remained on the front lines of the fight for life."
Troy Newman, President of Operation Rescue, praised Scheidler's courage and determination during the sometimes-wearisome process that stretched over two decades.
"The pro-life movement owes much to Joe Scheidler for persevering to the end of this case and insuring that life-saving efforts of men and women across the country are protected from unfounded legal harassment," said Newman. "Joe is a true American hero."
