Ohio Heartbeat Bill: A Casualty of Politics as Usual

Heartbeat

Ohio Heartbeat Bill:  A Casualty of Politics as Usual

Columbus, OH – December 3, 2012 - After having the Heartbeat Bill (HB125) for a year and a half, Ohio Senate President Tom Niehaus (R-District 14) has now officially killed the bill.  He said, "This was an effort on my part to fulfill my responsibility as the leader of the caucus to protect my members …” (www.dispatch.com/content/stories/local/2012/11/30/heartbeat-bill-totally-dead..." target="_blank">Heartbeat Bill totally dead for this year, Dispatch, November 30, 2012).  Apparently, Niehaus values protecting politicians from public scrutiny more than protecting little baby boys and girls from dismemberment by abortion.

In the same Dispatch article, Niehaus said, "I am not a lawyer…”  The problem is he apparently wants to be one.  The Senate President has turned the separation of powers on its head!  Instead of behaving like an elected representative, he made a decision on the constitutionality of the Heartbeat Bill before it ever came to a vote.  In America, our judges have become legislators, and our NOW our legislators have become judges!

What Senator Niehaus seems to have lost sight of is the fact that Roe vs. Wade is unconstitutional not the Heartbeat Bill.  People who submit themselves to the worst ruling in our history are no better than the ones who wrote it.  Senator Niehaus will be remembered not for his pro-life legislative accomplishments but for sacrificing thousands of Ohio preborn babies at the altar political cronyism.

It's a near-universal law that modernity reduces fertility. But compared with the swiftly aging nations of East Asia and Western Europe, the American birthrate has proved consistently resilient, hovering around the level required to keep a population stable or growing.

First Sunday of Advent

Dear Friends
The holy season of Advent begins this Sunday, to prepare us for the coming celebration of Christmas. This consists of four weeks of preparation, but the secular culture has outdone us in preparing us for Christmas. Even before Thanksgiving, we see Christmas decorations and advertisements.
It is in our hands to uphold the sacred season of Advent. It becomes a time of watching, waiting, reflecting, and hoping that the Lord will indeed come this Christmas with light, peace and power into our hearts, families and world. As the Lord wants to enter our world in new ways this Christmas, we do our part by opening our hearts and letting Him in. We cast out the ways and works of darkness, and let in the light.

1st_sunday_advent

Almighty God, give us grace that we may cast away the works of darkness and put upon us the armor of light. Now is the time in which Your Son Jesus Christ came to visit us with great humility so that when He comes again in majesty to judge the living and the dead, we may rise to life immortal. We ask this through Christ our Lord.
Amen

San Francisco Gearing Up for Walk for Life West Coast

Plans for Walk for Life West Coast in full swing

Pro-lifers rally and stand up for life in San Francisco on January 26, 2013

SAN FRANCISCO, Calif., Dec. 1, 2012 /Christian Newswire/ -- Pro-lifers on the west coast are energized and making plans for this year's 9th Annual Walk for Life West Coast on January 26, 2013, which will begin at 12:30 PM in San Francisco's Civic Center Plaza. They expect to produce a bigger, more dynamic, grassroots Walk for Life West Coast that will demonstrate a growing trend: America is becoming more pro-life.

Dolores Meehan, Walk for Life West Coast co-founder and organizer, says, "The indomitable spirit of pro-lifers will never be dampened by the seeming success of pro-abortion policies. Public policies come and go, but the courage and righteousness of individuals persevering to protect the most vulnerable in our midst ... that's what will be remembered for generations to come. Now more than ever, we must stand and be counted in the public square. We are 'in it' to 'win it.'"

The Walk for Life is gearing up for some vibrant speakers this year, including:

  • Lacey Buchanan, a young mother whose YouTube video about her blind son went viral and has touched over 11 million viewers;

  • Elaine Riddick, a woman who was forcibly sterilized at age 14 under orders from North Carolina's Eugenics Board, whose goal was to purify the state's population by weeding out the mentally ill, diseased, feebleminded and others deemed undesirable;

  • Rev. Clenard Childress, the founder and director of www.BlackGenocide.org, a website designed to reach the African-American Community with the truth about abortion;

  • Kelly and Matthew Clinger, a post-abortive couple who share their story about the heartache and pain caused by life in the music industry, divorce, addiction, and abortion.
  • The Walk for Life West Coast team is also excited to announce that actress and model Jennifer O'Neill (www.jenniferoneill.com), who is the national spokeswoman for the Silent No More Post-Abortion Awareness Campaign, will join the Silent No More program prior to the rally.

Founded in 2005 by a group of San Francisco Bay Area residents, the Walk for Life West Coast's mission is to change the perceptions of a society that thinks abortion is an answer. Walk participants are expected from throughout the Bay Area and across the United States and Canada.

More details and the most up-to-date information about the walk is available at: www.walkforlifewc.com.

    How can you help Ireland

    Preserve
    Religious
    Freedom
    Greetings!

    FACT CHECK:
    ABORTION IN IRELAND

Abortion advocates are using the tragic death of Dr Savita Halappanavar to promote abortion in Ireland through fear and error.

    From Kate@lifeaction.org:

I just got off the phone with Niamh Ui Bhriain from Ireland for an update on the situation and it looks like abortion could very well be legalized in Ireland by the END OF DECEMBER! This is the worst attack the pro-life laws in Ireland have ever come under... and they need our HELP.

As many of you know, I spent 2.5 years in Dublin recently, as I pursued a MA degree and then was hired as the Research Director for Youth Defence. YD is one of the most inspirational groups I have ever come in contact with and I truly believe that their group is the reason that abortion has been kept out of Ireland over the past 20 years.

A great website that you all might want to check out and/or promote is: www.savitatruth.com This is a great website and sums up everything really well.

If you are on Twitter and cover anything about any of this, please use the hashtag: #Savita . Abortion campaigners are using it, but I would love to steal it back from them.

ALSO -- There was an amazing symposium in Dublin in September and they released the Dublin Declaration, Doctors stating that Abortion is NEVER medically necessary:
     www.dublindeclaration.com
They're trying to bring a lot of attention to this to counter the propaganda over there.

We need to support our pro-life brothers and sisters in Ireland today. They have kept abortion out of Ireland, but now are struggling and need backup. Anything that you're groups can do to support them, please do.

And if you have any thoughts or questions, I would be happy to talk to any of you.

     God bless,

CMMB: Today is World AIDS Day

    Catholic Medical Mission Board

    World AIDS Day

    Dear Friends,

Today is World AIDS Day. It’s important to take a moment to remember the millions of people who have lost their lives to AIDS, and to reflect on the advancements that have been made over the past decade towards achieving an AIDS-free world.

An estimated 3.4 million children under the age of 15 are living with HIV/AIDS worldwide. More than 90 percent of HIV positive children live in sub-Saharan Africa. This year, about 230,000 children will die of AIDS-related causes.

If we are ever to live in a world free of AIDS, the rate of infection among the youngest and most-vulnerable must be dramatically reduced.

How do we achieve this? Partnerships.

Partnerships have always been fundamental to the success of CMMB. For the past century, our organization has worked in collaboration with hundreds of individuals and organizations – pharmaceutical companies, national health systems, local community leaders and other nonprofit organizations. It’s what sustains and inspires us, and what enables us to provide quality healthcare to millions around the world.

As people across the globe show their support for the fight against HIV, we at CMMB reaffirm our commitment to working with all our partners – present, past and future – to tackle this next phase in the fight against the global HIV/AIDS epidemic. An AIDS-free world is an ambitious goal. It’s also an achievable one, if we work together.

Together, we can continue to provide hope and health to more people throughout the world.

With your help, our efforts are making a difference.

    Sincerely,

    Pope Benedict XVI on
    World AIDS Day

Pope Benedict XVI, speaking on November 28, 2012, said his thoughts and prayers were with "the great number of children who contract the virus every year from their own mothers, despite the fact there are therapies for preventing it."
The Vatican has estimated Catholic agencies provide about 25 percent of all HIV treatment and care throughout the world.
