Were there to be no support in the whole history of ethical and moral thought, were there no acknowledged confirmation from medical science, were the history of legal opinion to the contrary, we would still have to conclude on the basis of God's Holy Word that the unborn child is a person in the sight of God. He is protected by the sanctity of life graciously given to each individual by the Creator, Who alone places His image upon man and grants them any right to life which they have.

Children hospitalized with respiratory crisis for having ingested marijuana
AMERICA/COLORADO -
Following the complaints of some children who were seriously ill after swallowing marijuana, a group of experts for the Treatment of Poisoning and Drugs Centre of Rocky Mountain in Denver, reviewed 1,400 records of first aid carried out on some young children for accidental ingestion between 2005 and 2011 in the pediatric hospital in Colorado. What was highlighted was the fact that in October 2009, none of the 790 children with symptoms of accidental poisoning had traces of marijuana in urine. In 2009, following the legalization of the drug for medical use, 14 of the 588 children a ssisted had swallowed marijuana. The children were aged between 8 months and 12 years of age. Eight were hospitalized. The most common symptom was lack of strength, even if some arrived with breathing difficulties. Experts say they are concerned about the level of sedation that this drug causes in young children, making them feel sleepy and causing breathing problems. In children, in fact marijuana causes problems to the central nervous system, brain and respiratory system. (AP) (Agenzia Fides 03/06/2013)

The
counselor at Planned Parenthood had told me that some initial sadness
after my abortion would be normal, but after a couple days, if I was
still feeling depressed, that wouldn’t be normal, and I should seek
help. How wrong she was. Much of those days before and after my abortion
are a blur of heartbreak and tears.

“There
are an estimated 37 million Chinese men who will never marry because
their future wives were terminated before they were born,” said
Littlejohn. “This gender imbalance is a powerful, driving force behind
trafficking in women and sexual slavery, not only in China, but in
neighboring nations as well.”

Public opinion and the whims of the people cannot and should not dictate what the clergy of the Church will allow or advocate. Our Church was founded on the truths taught by Christ and from these truths we should never waver. When we see priests, bishops, archbishops, or cardinals allowing modern-day beliefs to come before Church teachings, we see very clearly that there is a problem in leadership. And if our leaders seem confused, where does that leave the people?

Tell
me who you hang out with and I’ll tell you who you are. Anna Maria
Chávez, CEO of Girl Scouts USA (GSUSA), offers this pithy saying as her
favorite quote. In order to figure out who the Girl Scouts are, I
suppose we must follow Ms. Chávez’ logic and look at the organizations
that GSUSA associates with.

Catholic Politicians Who Support Abortion Should Resign
Catholic Politicians Who Support Abortion Are Pushing Themselves Out Of The Church!
By: Gary O’ Sullivan -A senior Vatican official has said that Catholic politicians should resign rather than be part of a Government move to legalize abortion.
As Taoiseach Enda Kenny, a self-described practicing Catholic, pushes ahead with plans to legalize abortion before the summer, a senior Vatican official told The Irish Catholic that Catholic politicians in these circumstances should quit rather than legislate for abortion.
Asked about the current situation in Ireland Msgr Jacques Suaudeau, scientific director of the Pontifical Academy for Life at the Vatican said: “If the Prime Minister as a Catholic, doesn’t want to impose his belief and the time has come for a more moderate line on abortion, then he resigns.
“If you are faithful to your conviction, then you have to get out,” he said.
He also said that Catholic politicians who support abortion are pushing themselves out of the Church.
Referring to Catholics in political life, he said: “if a politician is being forced to be a formal co-operator with abortion, you leave the party, you get out.”
He warned that politicians cannot hide behind a claim that they are just doing their duty. He said many had forgotten the Nuremberg Defence, a reference to Nazi officers who said they were simply following orders. “If an act is evil and you receive an order to do it then you cannot do it.”
“Sometimes people forget Nuremberg. You cannot cover yourself with the cover of party discipline,” Msgr Suaudeau said.
“Generally, if you are well-known and your party is proposing something that goes against your conscience you need to make it known, you need to speak. Maybe they will ask you to abstain, sometimes people understand that you have an objection of conscience’’ he added.
He warned that “Catholic politicians cannot live under two houses when it comes to abortion. You have to take a decision but not many do”.
On the issue of excommunication for pro-abortion Catholic politicians, Msgr Suaudeau said that the issue should be dealt with in private by senior Churchmen.
Bishops, he said, have to signify to politicians in private the wrong headedness of their actions. He added that the Vatican does not like excommunication or talking about it publicly and does this for the sake of the local Church.
However, he added, if you are agreeing to abortion and pushing it you are pushing yourself out of the Church. But you can change and come back.
