CMP STATEMENT ON TESTIMONY FROM PLANNED PARENTHOOD BABY PARTS BUYER AT HEARING

The star witness for Planned Parenthood at today’s hearing on the bioethics of fetal body parts harvesting, UC San Diego’s Dr. Lawrence Goldstein, obtains his aborted fetal brains from Planned Parenthood of the Pacific Southwest in San Diego, CA. Dr. Goldstein is also a long-time financial donor to the same Planned Parenthood in San Diego. Neither of these critical facts are mentioned anywhere in Dr. Goldstein’s sworn written testimony for the hearing.

“This is more of the same from Planned Parenthood and their political cronies: a total lack of transparency and false advertising to cover up troubling revelations about their baby-parts-for-profit scheme,” says David Daleiden, CMP Project Lead. “In reality, Planned Parenthood’s taxpayer-funded crime syndicate for baby parts harvesting is on full display in this hearing–a taxpayer-funded researcher at a government school harvesting brains from late-term babies at a state-subsidized Planned Parenthood abortion clinic. The Investigative Panel must ask Dr. Goldstein the hard questions about how much money he gave Planned Parenthood in exchange for aborted babies’ brains, and what Planned Parenthood may have done to their abortion process to accommodate his orders.”

Alabama Supreme Court Rips SCOTUS Ruling on Same-Sex Marriage

Alabama Supreme Court Rips SCOTUS Ruling on Same-Sex Marriage

Contact: Tom Ford, 334-220-2319

MONTGOMERY, Ala., March 4, 2016 /Christian Newswire/ -- The Alabama Supreme Court broke their nine month silence on same-sex marriage Friday and in a 9-0 Order simply dismissed all of the pending motions and petitions and refused to lift their Injunction from March 3 that upheld Alabama's Sanctity of Marriage Amendment.

"As it has done for approximately two centuries, Alabama law allows for 'marriage' between only one man and one woman. Alabama probate judges have a ministerial duty not to issue any marriage license contrary to this law. Nothing in the United States Constitution alters or overrides this duty." See Ex Parte State ex rel. Alabama Policy Institute

"Such an action from a State Supreme Court has not been seen since the days of Dred Scott," Tom Ford, spokesperson for Sanctity of Marriage Alabama said. "Just as Obergefell did nothing to alter or abolish Alabama's marriage law, today's Order did nothing to lift the Injunction from March 3rd and Alabama officials should continue to acknowledge the fact that marriage is between one man and one woman," Ford continued.

Alabama Chief Justice Roy Moore wrote in his concurrence:

"Today this Court by order dismisses all pending motions and petitions and issues the certificate of judgment in this case. That action does not disturb the existing March orders in this case or the Court's holding therein that the Sanctity of Marriage Amendment, art. I, § 36.03, Ala. Const. 1901, and the Alabama Marriage Protection Act, § 30-1-9, Ala. Code 1975, are constitutional. Therefore, and for the reasons stated below, I concur with the order."
The simplicity of today's Order from the Court left a cracked door for Justice Greg Shaw and Justice Mike Bolin to confuse us all with curious "concurrences" that take the form of dissents and attempt to surrender God's truth, the immutable nature of marriage, our democratic voice, and the rule of law to the unconstitutional opinion from SCOTUS that was Obergefell.

Now is no time for surrender and gratefully, in the technical effect of the Order and further, in the writings of Chief Justice Moore (at 13) and Justice Parker (at 126) we find unprecedented excellence in defense of the rule of law and constitutional supremacy, as well as sound clarification of the legal reality in Alabama: the March Injunction requiring Alabama probate judges to only issue those licenses that are in accordance with Alabama's Sanctity of Marriage Amendment remains in full force and effect.

"Today, Alabama dealt a much-needed blow to judicial overreach and continues to lead the charge in restoring the fundamental principles of our constitutional republic. Today's writings will reverberate around the world for centuries and the magnum opuses from Chief Justice Moore and Justice Parker should be read and carefully considered by every American who cares about the future of this country," Ford said.

Spirit & Life - Obedience, not Dissent

Your Support Helps HLI Defend Life & Family Around the World!

What a blessed time we have had in Hawaii, traveling to several of the beautiful islands and sharing the Gospel of Life with priests, seminarians and lay people who are hungry for the truth. Our friends with the Diocese of Honolulu's Pro-Life Office and Bishop Larry Silva's team have kept an ambitious schedule, which is normal for mission trips.

Also normal for such trips is the blessed lack of connectivity to the internet. Of course, this doesn't always feel like a blessing when you have many things going on, but the Lord always does provide what you need. Thank you all for your prayers for the "Catholics Reaffirming Life" campaign through the Hawaiian archipelago -- we are already seeing great fruit from our conversations and we pray that it continues to grow as we prepare for the trip home.
As you know, we at HLI have strongly expressed our concerns about the contraception statements coming from the Vatican. Most of the feedback we're received has been positive, but I wanted to address a complaint that has been expressed; namely, that with our statements we have expressed "dissent" and have thus caused scandal. Since specific quotes are not offered with these charges, my guess is that some have a general sense that our efforts at clarifying teaching are disrespectful, or worse.
I have great respect for those whose heartfelt impulse is to defend the Church and the Holy Father. I feel the same way, which is why like so many of my brothers in faith, I have made it my life's vocation to be a priest and serve the Bride of Christ, His Church. And I have made it a key aspect of my vocation to take a leadership role in a pro-life missionary organization and defend some of the most essential but least popular teachings of the Church. In my experience of a pastor, I've seen too many times that to neglect these truths for any reason is to create division in families, communities, and nations.
Human Life International has defended these teachings for decades, often with the support of the pope and bishops. We have suffered criticisms from bishops as well. That is the nature of the fight for life and family -- it's not about being popular, but about engaging on these vital questions in season and out of season.
If you look at the purveyors of abortion and contraception -- they are always closely linked -- you see that they see this as a battle. They are well organized and coordinated, and are extremely well funded. They hold the heights of political and cultural power, and hold up the most vulnerable -- women and children -- as human shields for their assaults. As more and more women fall and babies are killed, their allies in the media somehow twist these catastrophes are reasons to increase the assault. This is demonic, yet it is actually sold as an imperative of "justice."
They have always recognized that it is the Catholic Church and her teaching that represented their ultimate obstacle. They've confused many millions of Catholics -- even, as Pope Francis and his predecessors have noted, many bishops -- into indifference, but they've never laid a glove on the truth, the Revealed Word of God as proclaimed by the Church's Magisterium. Because they can't. All they can do is remove support and cause confusion and destruction. Sadly, they've been deadly effective at this.
As a priest, my only authority is that which comes to me through the Church established by Our Lord Jesus Himself through the Holy Father, my bishop, in harmony with the truths of the faith. None of us in the Church can change these truths, we can only conform our minds and wills to them, to the Will of God, and go forward in love and truth, hopefully with courage. I have absolutely no desire to oppose the Holy Father, his faithful shepherds, or the truths that I have sworn to uphold.
This is why we praise good statements that come out and respectfully do our best to clarify statements that are used to undermine (not change) Church doctrine in the minds of the faithful. That is how we serve the Church in love and truth. To characterize this as "dissent" is to demonstrate a fundamental confusion about the nature of authority and Church teaching. And as was said previously, some others who have no intention or history of dissent have also sought to clarify the same teachings over the last weeks.

In times of confusion, this is often what love in truth looks like. It will be unpopular, it will be cast as disrespect by some, even if offered in a spirit of obedience. It is HLI's mission to engage on these issues and educate all of good faith who will listen. If we do this with pride and haughtiness, we fail; if we do so with a servant's heart, we may not win every battle, but we more closely conform to the will of God. This is what we are trying to do, no doubt imperfectly.

May God bless the Holy Father, our bishops and priests, our religious and lay people. May He bless them as only He can, in absolute love and truth. Let His will be done, not ours.

Sincerely yours in Christ,
Father Shenan J. Boquet

Bishop Prendergrast
"We are grateful to see the logic of the Sacrament of Anointing of the Sick presented with such clarity and charity by Archbishop Prendergrast. This truth spoken in love serves as a corrective against a false mercy, or any presumption that the Church's sacraments are simply empty rituals that exist to validate the choices of those who reject God's law. We hope that this clear position presented by Archbishop Prendergrast will save lives and souls by turning the confused away from choosing the terrible sin of suicide." - continue -

The Tribune, Clavius, is an aspiring Roman military official. And after his bout with the Zealots, he is commanded by Pontius Pilate to oversee the crucifixion and burial of Yeshua, the Christ who made the bold prediction that he would rise in three days' time. Truly, this was been a day of Death and as a way to wash off the blood of death we see both Clavius and Pilate relax in a Roman bath that very evening. It is during this time Pilate ask his Tribune what he most desires, and Clavius responds cautiously, "A day without death." At the surface, it seems that he merely means he wishes to go through one day without having to witness the loss of life. Certainly, given his positon in life, it is understandable why he wishes for this. However, Clavius' statement should be explored a little more deeply because it is not as simplistic as it sounds. - continue -

Abortion Abolitionists Successfully Lobby Oklahoma Legislature to Treat Abortion as Murder

Abortion Abolitionists Successfully Lobby Oklahoma Legislature to Treat Abortion as Murder

Contact: T. Russell Hunter,
Abolish Abortion OK, 405-922-3374

OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla., March 4, 2016 /Christian Newswire/ -- Hundreds of supporters of a recently filed Petition Initiative to Abolish Human Abortion in Oklahoma have been lobbying the Oklahoma Legislature to put forward a bill criminalizing abortion as murder.

The original plan was to put a Constitutional Amendment prohibiting abortion on the November ballot. The question would have allowed the people of Oklahoma to vote to end the practice of abortion or to retain it. But, the ACLU of Oklahoma filed a protest, halting the collection of signatures and forcing the Oklahoma Supreme Court to allow or deny the abolitionists their right to petition their government on behalf of the people. In light of this, supporters of the amendment have turned to the legislature.

On February 27th, abolitionists began circulating another petition demanding Oklahoma legislators fulfill their oaths of office and pass laws protecting and establishing justice for those being deprived of the Right to Life and those being "terminated" without due process of law. Within a week, abolitionists have collected nearly 10,000 signatures calling for the total and immediate abolition of abortion in Oklahoma (You can Read and Sign this petition here: AbolishAbortionOK.com).

Senator Joe Silk (R-Broken Bow) has heard their cry. In response to their petition, Sen. Silk has incorporated the language of the abolitionist amendment into his existing anti-abortion bill, Senate Bill 1118, which states that "A person commits murder in the first degree when that person performs an abortion," and defines abortion as "the use or prescription of any instrument, medicine, drug or any other substance, or device to intentionally kill an unborn human being." Furthermore, the bill declares that the measure is to take an immediate effect upon passage "for the preservation of the public peace, health and safety."

This bill aims to protect all children from destruction in Oklahoma, and bring Oklahoma Law into compliance with the United States Constitution. This bill unabashedly defies the Supreme Court's perversion and denunciation of the Constitutional Right to Life, and seeks to establish justice for those being deprived of life without due process of law.

The bill is set to be heard on the Senate Floor this coming coming Tuesday, March 8th.

Are Some Priests More Catholic Than Others? The Government Seems to Think So

My classmates and I at St. Joseph’s Seminary in the Archdiocese of New York took the same classes – Sacred Scripture, Sacraments, homiletics and many others – and we were ordained together in November 1988 at St. Patrick’s Cathedral by Cardinal John J. O’Connor. We all looked forward to our first parish assignments as brand new priests.
Five years after ordination, Cardinal O’Connor released me from parish ministry to work full-time in pro-life and I became the national director of Priests for Life.
Now nobody would claim that by moving from parish ministry to a more specialized ministry, I became less Catholic or less of a priest.
Yet the Obama administration has introduced a big difference between my classmates who are running parishes, and me, running a religious non-profit ministry.
The difference has to do with the "HHS Mandate," by which the Obama Administration requires us as employers to cover abortion-inducing drugs and contraceptives in the health insurance plans we provide for our employees.
Here's the difference. My classmates don't have to worry about it, because Churches are exempt from the mandate. The government recognizes that it cannot force a believer to violate his or her faith.
But my organization and I are not exempt. We are put in a less protected category. We are offered, in fact, an "accommodation" that still violates our faith. So I face the choice of either violating my faith, or practicing it and being punished by the government.
And therefore we are challenging the HHS mandate now in the U.S.  Supreme Court. I am a plaintiff in Priests for Life vs. HHS, one of seven cases that will be reviewed by the Supreme Court on March 23.
In an amicus brief filed in relation to the cases against the mandate, Carrie Severino of the Judicial Crisis Network points out that the distinction the government draws between priests is not where we minister but what tax forms we file.
Here’s a summary of that brief that was reported in the National Review:
Amici write to highlight the arbitrary nature of the decision by the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) to base the availability of religious exemptions to the HHS contraceptive mandate (“mandate” or “contraceptive mandate”) not on factors that go to an employer’s religious character, but on its federal tax filing requirements. The HHS mandate relies on categories set forth in Internal Revenue Code § 6033 to distinguish between religious organizations. But the history and application of section 6033 show that the classification was solely intended to facilitate administration of the tax laws, not to draw a line between religious institutions whose free exercise was fully protected and those who received less consideration. In short, the availability of an exemption to the mandate should turn on an organization’s claim to religious exercise rights, not its tax filing obligations.”
Tax law has done enormous harm by silencing priests and pastors who are too worried about losing their tax-exempt status to speak out in defense of the unborn at election time. Now it appears the federal government is at it again, threatening great financial harm to non-profits that won’t bow to the accommodation while allowing churches to enjoy their  rights under the Religious Freedom Restoration Act.
If the Supreme Court sides with the Obama administration and rules that our faith is defined by our tax forms, every person of faith in the United States has cause for concern.
The government is making at least two big mistakes here. It is posing as judge and arbiter of which beliefs will be protected and which will not. Then, it is likewise posing as judge and arbiter of which believers will be protected and which will not.
The arguments of the government in Priests for Life vs. HHS, and in our sister cases, is that our beliefs don't make sense (to the courts, that is!), and that it is too much trouble for the Administration or the Congress to make the changes in public policy necessary to protect those beliefs.
We fully expect that many of our beliefs will not make sense to the courts. But the essence of religious freedom is that the government protects beliefs not on the basis of whether they make sense, but on the basis of the fact that the believer sincerely holds those beliefs.
And as far as protecting some believers but not others, I'm sure my classmates, serving in parishes fully exempt from the mandate, will agree that if we lose this current case, they are in as much danger as we are, in the face of a government that thinks it can choose which believers can actually practice their beliefs and which ones can't.
