Oakland City Council to sidewalk counselors: shut up!

Restrictive "bubble ordinance" moves forward despite vocal opposition, lack of evidence


Early on the morning of Wednesday, Nov. 7, after a Tuesday evening meeting that left the issue for the end of their agenda and forced opponents to wait six hours to speak, the Oakland City Council voted to tentatively approve a "bubble ordinance" that would force sidewalk counselors and protestors to stay 8 feet away from patients entering abortion clinics.
