‘Stop forcing taxpayers to fund abortions!’

Pro-lifers bring message to Tea Party rally in Sacramento

A small group of pro-life activists brought the issue of forced taxpayer funding of abortion to a Tea Party rally held in front of the state Capitol in Sacramento on April 15.

Between 2,000 to 3,000 people, many with American flags, colorful signs, political buttons, and some in costumes, circulated around the grounds and cheered the speakers.

Several pro-life volunteers circulated though the crowds with signs reading: "STOP FORCED taxpayer funding of the California Abortion Holocaust!"

The signs decrying public funding for abortions were acknowledged in the
Sacramento Bee'scoverage of the rally the following day.

Blood-red flyers with the message "Stop Tax-Payer Funded Abortions in CA / Each year over 80,000 abortions are paid for with your California state tax dollars, totaling well over $23 million dollars annually!" were distributed at the event.

"Often these tax-payer-funded abortions are performed secretively on our teenage daughters, a serious life-ending and life-changing surgery, which does NOT even require Parental Notification, yet they can't go on a field-trip without our permission," the flyers said.

The flyers also informed Tea Party attendees, "Planned Parenthood is the world's #1 Abortion business, performing over 300,000 abortions each year just in the US, while raking in over a billion dollars in revenue, including funding from government grants. Stop the money flow to the killing industry!"

The flyers directed readers to the website www.California4Life.org for more information.

The 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. rally was the second annual gathering at the Capitol of the Tea (Taxed Enough Already) Party, sponsored by a group called the Tea Party Patriots. Attendance at this year's rally was less than last year.
