Lifeissues.net: clear thinking about crucial issues

Dear Friends for Life,

Many groups for Life have commented on the verdict of the abortionist Kermit Gosnell's trial. What do these groups have in common? They all point out that this case is not an exception which is Planned Parenthood position, rather it is the rule. Every abortion kills a human being. Abortion cannot be regulated by law as Planned Parenthood claims while deflecting its culpability by pushing for 'safe' abortions. Abortion must be eliminated. Judie Brown comments below.

Abortionist Kermit Gosnell has been convicted of three counts of first-degree murder in infant deaths and one count of manslaughter in the death of Karnamaya Mongar. He also faced 24 counts of performing abortions past Pennsylvania's 24-week gestational age, 227 counts of performing abortions without giving the woman the mandated 24-hour waiting period, and other counts involving racketeering and operating a "corrupt organization."

Judie Brown, president of American of Life League, the nation's oldest Catholic prolife organization, released this statement: "After literally snuffing out the lives of hundreds of innocents at the very beginning of their lives, Gosnell acted to save the last few years of his own. In the end, Gosnell struck a deal asking for the mercy that he refused to the hundreds of babies he killed.

The saddest part of this story is that Gosnell is not the exception; he is the rule. Each day, new reports of atrocities committed by abortionists on women and their children are being revealed across this country. Just because the media refuses to report these horrors does not mean they don't exist. Gosnell is not the problem: Refusal to recognize the immorality of abortion, whether committed in shiny offices on Main Street or in dingy clinics, only protects all the Gosnells."

God Bless,
Jerry Novotny, OMI

(The Difference is LIFE) "God has created me to do him some definite service; he has committed some work to me which he has not committed to another. I have my mission - I may never know it in this life, but I shall be told it in the next. I have a part in a great work; I am a link in a chain, a bond of connection between persons."  - Blessed John Henry Newman.

(Natural Family Planning): "New video on the fertility cycle  from the Billings group"The Billings Ovulation Method is a natural method of managing your fertility. It teaches you to recognise your body's natural signal of fertility - cervical mucus. This animation explains the changes in cervical mucus that you may experience throughout your menstrual cycle, and how this relates to your fertility. Once you're familiar with these changes you'll be able to identify the fertile and infertile times in your cycles. You can use this information to optimise your chances of conceiving, or you can use it to avoid pregnancy naturally. It can also help you to safeguard your reproductive health because you'll learn to recognise any changes that might need early medical investigation.

ITEM #1: Christopher Kaczor's Seven Big Myths

The Church hates science. The Church hates women. The Church hates gay people. Many Catholics are sick of hearing this refrain but unsure of how to answer it, especially in language that's appealing to non-Christians. And a quick search for resources is more likely to yield Internet polemics, dated encyclopedia entries, and an intimidating stack of books than anything of use in a face-to-face argument.

****************************************

ITEM #2: Homosexual Marriage, Parenting, and Adoption

I believe that it is a matter of the greatest importance to make clear the true implications of the negation of sexual difference and to debate publicly what is at stake rather than falling back on principles, such as equality, that flatter those who set themselves up as their standard bearers, even though the way these principles are invoked to justify the homosexual-marriage agenda does not stand up to critical scrutiny. This subject deserves better than the court of political correctness, whose authority, advocates of homosexual marriage hope, will prevail until the law is voted on - a tribunal they defend by means of disqualifying caricatures against anyone who dares to question their project and their motives.

****************************************

ITEM #3:  America's Baby Bust

The nation's falling fertility rate is the root cause of many of our problems.

****************************************

ITEM #4: How to reduce abortions

But assuming we don't want to focus on compromising the autonomy and dignity of women to achieve a sterile population, what approaches with wide popular support could reduce abortion, even as it remains legal under the Supreme Court's decisions?

****************************************

ITEM #5: Hundreds of thousands march in Puerto Rico against gay rights

More than 200,000 religious Christians marched against gay rights in Puerto Rico on Monday in the largest such demonstration in the history of the US commonwealth.

****************************************

ITEM #6: FERTILIZATION and IMPLANTATION of the Early Human Embryo: Accurate Scientific Resources by Dr. Dianne Irving, Ph.D.

When and how did you begin to exist? Or your children? Given the amazing advancements of science and medicine over the past 100 years, one would think that even the average person in the street -- even elementary school students -- would know the accurate scientific facts of their own reproduction by now. Why the confusion?

****************************************

ITEM #7 Social Justice, The Plight of Man, Proud Man and the Culture of Death  (Part One of Ten)

We believe that we have found that which will truly satisfy us, only to eventually feel empty and isolated in this world once again. If we focus on ourselves and those close to us only, we may busy ourselves with all the details of daily life and actually think we are living "the good life," that everything is fine.

Proud Man and Pseudo-Religion  (Part Two of Ten)

Ultimately, man's pride is the root cause of socialism, totalitarianism, imperialism and any other system of thought or power-seeking materialism that openly rejects God. If man rejects materialism and yet clings to his arrogant pride, he seeks the spiritual without humbling himself.

****************************************

ITEM #8: Why not buy and sell embryos, ask scholars in NEJM

Why can't embryos be bought and sold like any other commodity? Making this surprising proposal is less surprising than where it was made - in the America's leading medical journal, the New England Journal of Medicine.

****************************************

ITEM #9: Generous Motherhood

The statement, "Yo mama was Pro-life," is one of the few succinct and accurate bumper stickers. Mothers are for life. They have given the gift of human life at birth. Further, they continue to nourish and to tend to the precious life they have received. Beyond the gift of physical life, mothers are called to form the minds and hearts of their children in the Word of God.

****************************************

ITEM #10: They Know the Unborn Life is a Baby, They Just Don't Care

In his argument for the acquittal of the infamous abortionist Kermit Gosnell, attorney Jack McMahon kept slipping up and referring to the victims as infants. There was no question that the babies killed in Gosnell's facility were human babies, and no question that they had been killed during the abortion procedure; all the attorney could argue was that the prosecution couldn't prove absolutely when the babies died. Cries and movement witnessed by the staff were discounted.

****************************************

ITEM #11: Premature Babies, Targets of Unethical Experimentation

Newly obtained documents from the SUPPORT oxygen experiment on tiny premature babies reveal far more extensive medical ethics violations.

****************************************

ITEM #12: Pope surprises, delights 40,000 Italian pro-lifers, joins March for Life

Since his election, the pope has gained a reputation for making spontaneous gestures that have sometimes taxed his security staff.
