40 Days For Life: DAY 33: From Abortion Worker to Campaign Leader

When Franne landed a job at Planned Parenthood in Los Angeles, she looked forward to a career advancing women's health.

She was quickly disillusioned.

"They didn’t want us to take our time with patients," Franne remembered. "The faster, the better."

And then there was the gruesome nature of her job. Franne assisted with abortions and handled the bodies of aborted babies.

While Planned Parenthood’s dehumanizing rhetoric helped her cope with the brutality of her work, Franne admitted, "We clearly saw that it was a baby, not just tissue..."

But when Franne began desiring a relationship with God, He led her out of the abortion industry...

...and called her to lead a 40 Days for Life campaign in front of her former workplace.

Lancaster, California

Prayer warriors in Lancaster held a diaper drive to support their local pregnancy help centers.

"The clinics really appreciate our assistance," said Mary Anne, who serves on the local leadership team. "We believe helping mothers and babies in need is an important part of our 40 Days for Life commitment!"

Cancun, Mexico

The Cancun 40 Days for Life team prays in front of a hospital that does abortions.

One of the hospital workers informed vigil participants that the number of abortions has dropped by 28% since they began praying in front of the medical center.

"We are happy and grateful to God," exclaimed Mary Carmen, the local leader. "He lets us know that He listens to us. God is good!"

Cork, Ireland

The legalization of abortion in Ireland is a recent, tragic development.

But young pro-lifers are coming to the rescue.

As Kate wrapped up her vigil shift in front of Cork University Hospital, she was delighted to see three young students arrive to replace her.

"It was just such a hopeful sign to meet them," she said.

When I consider Your heavens, the work of Your fingers, the moon and the stars, which You have ordained, what is man that You are mindful of him, and the son of man that You visit him? For You have made him a little lower than the angels, and You have crowned him with glory and honor.

--Psalm 8:3-9

Lord, you are the creator of all things. Guide my thoughts to consider your creation in all of its majesty, beauty and holiness. Guide my heart especially to your creation of precious human life. Help me to comprehend how essential life is in your own heart. Teach me to appreciate, love and protect all human life.
