40 Days For Life: DAY 39: "I Can't Give You a Home, but..."

Adoption provides a nonviolent solution to a crisis pregnancy--and it can be a great gift to the baby, the adoptive family...and to the birth mother herself!

40 Days for Life general counsel Matt Britton recently joined a campaign event in Great Falls, Montana, where a woman who had suffered seven miscarriages shared a miraculous story of meeting a pregnant teen scheduled for an abortion--and then working together on an adoption plan.

After the adoptive mother's presentation, a young woman walked up and asked to speak. It was the 16-year-old who chose life and placed her baby for adoption!

"She was actually out on the street with us praying and never told anyone who she was," Matt recalled. "She gave an incredibly moving testimony."

Throughout her pregnancy, the girl was repeatedly counseled by her friends and family to have an abortion, but she did not want to follow in the footsteps of a loved one who had seven abortions.

After giving birth, the young mom sweetly told her baby, "I can’t give you a home or a car or the other things you need, but I can give you life and a beautiful adoptive family. I love you."

Whitefish, Montana

Matt also spoke in Whitefish, where an abortion supporter attended his talk. The woman refused to introduce herself, but she did take plenty of notes. Hopefully, she learned something!

A vigil participant named John reported that a young woman approached him and shared that she had scheduled an abortion because she was lonely, desperate, and unemployed.

The two had a long and powerful conversation that ended with the woman looking John in the eye and saying, "I promise you I will not go through with the abortion."

"After that conversation," John reflected, "I realized that this is the best job in the world and that I could stay out here forever."

Bristol, Virginia

Bristol straddles Tennessee and Virginia, but when Roe v. Wade was overturned, the Tennessee-based abortion facility reopened on the Virginia side.

40 Days for Life director of outreach Ramona Trevino recently visited Bristol to encourage volunteers to end abortion on both sides of the border.

A larger-than-expected crowd gathered to meet Ramona--with some attendees driving from an hour away. The event also drew local media attention.

"Ramona's presentation last night was amazing!" reported Angie, who helps lead the campaign. "The event was encouraging, since the abortion industry is trying to make Bristol a regional hub for abortions. We needed that extra push in this fight with a big dog!"

In this you greatly rejoice, though now for a little while, if need be, you have been grieved by various trials, that the genuineness of your faith, being much more precious than gold that perishes, though it is tested by fire, may be found to praise, honor and glory at the revelation of Jesus Christ.

--1 Peter 1:6-7

Dear Heavenly Father, we sing to You a new song, for You have done marvelous things. Forgive us when we allow circumstances to defeat us. You give power to the faint and You increase strength in those who have no might. We rest in You, dear Lord, and ask You to empower us again for Your service as You work out Your plan for us and through us.
