Were there to be no support in the whole history of ethical and moral thought, were there no acknowledged confirmation from medical science, were the history of legal opinion to the contrary, we would still have to conclude on the basis of God's Holy Word that the unborn child is a person in the sight of God. He is protected by the sanctity of life graciously given to each individual by the Creator, Who alone places His image upon man and grants them any right to life which they have.

CATHOLIC CONTENDERS ELICIT HATRED
February 28, 2012
Catholic League president Bill Donohue comments as follows: Some of the critics of Rick Santorum and Newt Gingrich have gone beyond Catholic bashing. Garry Wills is so excited he sees Santorum as a modern-day Torquemada, a man who “equates contraception with the guillotine.” That this lunacy appeared on the blog site of the New York Review of Books speaks volumes. On examiner.com, Michael Hughes compares Santorum to the Taliban, arguing he wants “a Christian form of Sharia law.” Mark Morford at sfgate.com says Santorum reminds him of a molester, someone who is trying to save “the dying Catholic church.” Larry Doyle at Huffington Post went beyond the candidate to slam all Catholics for participating “in a barbaric ritual…a ‘mass’ in which a black-robed cleric casts a spell over some bread and wine...[resulting] in a cannibalistic reverie.” Sexpert Dan Savage said that when Newt Gingrich was married to his second wife, he was “still f***ing the consecrated host out of his ‘devout Catholic’ mistress.” The Catholicism of these candidates only explains some of the hatred. John Cassidy in The New Yorker says that Santorum “with his seven kids” (which he notes first and foremost) is radically different from the magazine’s readership. He is right: those for whom abortion is the most precious right can’t figure Santorum out. Neither can Ivan Strenski at religiondispatches.com. While he says photos of Santorum and his daughter who suffers from Trisomy 18 “touched his heart,” he also wonders, “Why would one choose, in effect, to take the risk of bringing a doomed child into the world?” These people may be threatened by Catholicism, but what gives them the chills are babies. And they really flip over couples like the Santorums and the Palins who don’t abort their disabled children.

DAY 7: Falling abortion numbers
encouraging during a 40 Days for Life campaign when we
see local abortion numbers DECREASE dramatically. After we did the first 40 Days for Life campaign in
Texas back in 2004, abortions dropped 28 percent in
our community that year. As 40 Days for Life has spread to other cities, we've
seen similar results. Today, we start with an AMAZING
example where abortion numbers keep falling!
------------------------------------------------------
JACKSONVILLE, FLORIDA
------------------------------------------------------ Trudy sent me a graph showing Jacksonville's abortion
numbers over the past ten years. Abortions increased
from 2002 through 2006. Starting in 2007, however,
abortions have DECREASED every year. What happened in 2007? Well, in the fall of that year,
Jacksonville held its first 40 Days for Life campaign.
Then in 2009, volunteers started Family for Life --
daily prayer at the abortion centers Monday through
Saturday ... more than 300 days of prayer every year! In 2011, Jacksonville abortions reached a ten-year low. The Jacksonville team has already sponsored several
events this campaign, including a Jericho march, in
which prayer volunteers marched back and forth between
two abortion facilities seven times. To see the amazing chart of Jacksonville's abortion
numbers, plus photos from the campaign, please go to: http://40daysforlife.com/blog/?p=2758
------------------------------------------------------
ASHEVILLE, NORTH CAROLINA
------------------------------------------------------ The sound of the shofar kicked off the second 40 Days
for Life in Asheville. Mary Ann in Asheville said 100
people took part in the opening prayer vigil and
procession, led by representatives of Catholic,
Methodist, Presbyterian and home churches. People sang hymns and heard inspirational messages
from a local pastor and a former abortion industry
employee. "Hearts were deeply touched," Mary Ann said. From a very small start last fall, the Asheville effort
has now expanded. Many churches now have members of
their congregations signing up for prayer at the vigil,
the leaders have gotten information about the campaign
in a number of publications and team members have been
able to speak about 40 Days for Life at meetings of
various local organizations. For photos of the Asheville campaign, please go to: http://40daysforlife.com/blog/?p=2758
DOWNEY, CALIFORNIA
------------------------------------------------------ "God is moving big-time in Downey, California," Tim
wrote in the 40 Days for Life blog. "He is stirring the saints to come out of the pews
and onto the street to make a difference at the
Family Planning Associates abortion facility in
Downey," he said. Tim described how 40 college-age young adults stood
in prayer and worship from 9 pm to midnight recently,
and some of them were right back at the vigil outside
the abortion center at 7:30 the following morning. In just the first few days, eight babies were spared
from abortion in Downey. "God is pouring out His
Spirit," Tim wrote, "just as He said He would."
Today's devotional is from Carmen Pate, a member of
the 40 Days for Life board of directors.
------------------------------------------------------
DAY 7 INTENTION
------------------------------------------------------ Pray that the abortionists and all workers in
abortion facilities would be troubled in their
souls regarding their work and would seek truth.
------------------------------------------------------
SCRIPTURE
------------------------------------------------------ Let all bitterness, and wrath, and anger, and clamor,
and evil speaking, be put away from you, with all
malice. And be kind one to another, tenderhearted,
forgiving one another, even as God for Christ's sake
has forgiven you. -- Ephesians 4:31-32
------------------------------------------------------
REFLECTION by Carmen Pate, 40 Days for Life
------------------------------------------------------ We see the evil and oppression in the world, the
arrogance of those who mock God, the millions of
innocent lives destroyed because of the greed of a
few. Our flesh tells us that we should take justice in our
own hands, but instead of vengeance, the Lord calls us
to love our enemy, to forgive others as we have been
forgiven. God loves the abortionist and the Planned Parenthood
advocate just as much as He loves you. It breaks His heart to see them in bondage to sin and
He is giving you this opportunity to introduce them to
the Savior who sets the captive free. Though you may not experience direct interaction with
these souls, your presence will not go unnoticed. Your
non-verbal communications speak volumes about the God
you serve. Forgiveness is an act of obedience to God (Colossians
3:13). Forgiveness is not condoning or overlooking the
wrong behavior of others, but rather it is freeing
ourselves so that God can work mightily through us to
touch their hearts for Him. Let's join our hearts with His in recognizing that
those in the abortion industry are not the enemy, but
rather they are blinded by the enemy. God desires that we bring them the message of truth
and hope found in Christ, but the messengers He will
use are those willing to forgive.
------------------------------------------------------
PRAYER
------------------------------------------------------ Dearest God, You tell us in Proverbs that the foolish
and the wicked lack wisdom and understanding. I pray
you will trouble the souls of those in the abortion
industry so that they hunger for truth and cry out for
freedom. I pray that my life would reflect my redemption so
others may see it and trust in You. In obedience to
You, and by your grace, I choose to forgive others as
you have forgiven me. In the name of Christ my
Redeemer I pray, Amen.

Santorum, Romney Lead Obama in Key States Due to Obamacare
Thanks to the massive unpopularity of the Obamacare law that includes abortion funding, rationing concerns and now a mandate that forces religious employers to pay for birth control and drugs that may cause abortions, Obama is losing to the top two GOP candidates in key states.
In a USA TODAY/Gallup Poll of the nation s dozen top battleground states, a majority of Americans calls passage of Obamacare a bad thing and support repealing it should Republicans win control of the Senate from Democrats in November and the White House.
The Gallup survey queried voters in Ohio, Virginia, Colorado, Iowa, Florida, Nevada, New Hampshire, New Mexico, North Carolina, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin. Michigan, which casts votes tomorrow, was also included. http://www.lifenews.com/2012/02/27/santorum-romney-lead-obama-in-key-states-due-to-obamacare/
Cardinal: Catholic Hospitals May Close in Two Years Under Mandate
A leading Catholic Cardinal says Catholic hospitals in the United States may close in just two years under the new mandate the Obama administration put in place forcing them to pay for birth control and drugs that may cause abortions for their employees.
Cardinal Francis George of Chicago complains that the Catholic Church is being despoiled of her institutions as freedom of conscience and of religion become a memory from a happier past. He says the Obama administration is saying the Catholic Church in the United States is being told she must give up her health care institutions, her universities and many of her social service organizations. http://www.lifenews.com/2012/02/27/cardinal-catholic-hospitals-may-close-in-two-years-under-mandate/
Planned Parenthood Closes Texas Center After De-Funding
Thanks for the state of Texas deciding to revoke approximately $16 million in taxpayer funding for the Planned Parenthood abortion business, the Odessa office of Planned Parenthood will be closing March 9.
While abortions are not done at that office, it make abortion referrals for women to other Planned Parenthood of West Texas locations that do. The head of the Planned Parenthood affiliate admitted it has 2,000 abortion customers in its network in 2011.
In an interview with the local newspaper, CEO Karen Pieper Hildebrand of Planned Parenthood of West Texas blamed the state s decision to prevent the state family planning program from contracting with abortion businesses for the decision to close the busiest office it runs in western Texas. http://www.lifenews.com/2012/02/27/planned-parenthood-closes-texas-center-after-de-funding/
Planned Parenthood Prez Tells UAW: Re-Elect Barack Obama
At a rally with nearly 1,700 members and retirees of the United Auto Workers union, the president of the nation s biggest abortion business told participants that they need to re-elect pro-abortion President Barack Obama.
The rally is the latest example of the political collaboration between the abortion industry and labor unions to support Obama, who has compiled an extensive pro-abortion record during his time in the White House.
President Obama stood with us and we are going to stand with him, Planned Parenthood president Cecile Richards told UAW members last night at the rally, according to the Detroit News. We didn t pick these fights, but by God, we re going to win.
The two organizations that have become the punching bags in the Republican primary are the United Auto Workers and Planned Parenthood, Richards said. we re proud to stand with you. We ve got your back and we know you have ours. http://www.lifenews.com/2012/02/27/planned-parenthood-prez-tells-uaw-re-elect-barack-obama/
Video Back on YouTube Exposing Planned Parenthood Targeting Kids
After a Planned Parenthood ex-intern complained about appearing in it and YouTube forced it to be removed, a pro-life video exposing how the abortion business is targeting young children is back online and able to be seen.
The new video expose and report from a pro-life group showed how the Planned Parenthood abortion business exposes children to sexual material in order to seed a generation of sex addicts who will become future customers for the abortion giant. The new American Life League report exposed Planned Parenthood s sex programs using graphic imagery from Planned Parenthood s own websites, materials, and events.
After just four days on YouTube, Hooking Kids on Sex, the investigative report on Planned Parenthood sex education exceeded 200,000 views. Then, an ex-intern of Planned Parenthood got the white-hot video blocked by YouTube.i http://www.lifenews.com/2012/02/27/video-back-on-youtube-exposing-planned-parenthood-targeting-kids/
Obama Admin Sends Pro-Abortion Delegation to UN Women s Mtg
Yesterday a State Department press release announced the delegation they would be sending to the the 56th Session of the UN Commission on the Status of Women beginning next week at UN headquarters in New York and running two weeks.
The two co-leaders of the delegation are Susan Rice, US Ambassador to the United Nations and Melanne Verveer, Ambassador-at-Large for Global Women s Issues. Verveer, a former White House staffer to Hillary Clinton and staunch abortion rights advocate, was appointed to this post after President Obama created it in March 2009. Pro-life leaders believe the department was created in large part to advance abortion rights globally.
In 2009 UN Ambassador Susan Rice went on record (although without using the word abortion) in a speech at Howard University signaling a substantive policy shift from the Bush Administration on abortion by equating abortion with reproductive health. C-FAM reported on this. http://www.lifenews.com/2012/02/27/obama-admin-sends-pro-abortion-delegation-to-un-womens-mtg/
Obama s HHS Mandate Sparks Nationwide Pro-Life Protests
The controversy over pro-abortion President Barack Obama s HHS Mandate is now pouring out onto the streets as pro-life advocates and those who support religious liberty and freedom protest it.
On March 23, concerned citizens in over 50 cities including Washington D.C., New York, Chicago, Philadelphia, and San Francisco will gather at federal buildings for a rally with the theme, Stand Up for Religious Freedom Stop the HHS Mandate!
Thousands of Americans of all faiths are expected to participate in these rallies, organized by Citizens for a Pro-Life Society and the Pro-Life Action League, to oppose the new mandate from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services that requires all employers to provide free contraceptives, sterilization, and abortion-inducing drugs through their health plans. Religious leaders and other public figures will speak out against the HHS Mandate. http://www.lifenews.com/2012/02/27/obamas-hhs-mandate-sparks-nationwide-pro-life-protests/

Woman Euthanized in the Netherlands for Macular Degeneration
