ABORTION, A "FUNDAMENTAL" RIGHT



It is interesting to note that, not only did the Court invent a Constitutional right to abortion, but that it denominated that right to be "fundamental." The significance of this was to elevate it to the highest status of any Constitutional right thereby restricting State interference with it to require that any such attempted interference be supported by a "compelling state interest."
