American Life League Celebrates Pence Amendment Victory

(Washington, DC, February 18, 2011) ... Reacting to the passage of the of the Pence Amendment to the Continuing Resolution bill by a vote of 240-185, Judie Brown, president of American Life League issued the following statement:

American Life League has worked for years to end all taxpayer funding of Planned Parenthood. The passage, today, of the Pence Amendment, which will take every penny of federal government money away from Planned Parenthood until at least September 30, 2011, is a great victory for the American people and their children.

We congratulate Representative Mike Pence for having the courage to introduce this amendment, the 240 members of the House from both parties who voted for it, and our supporters who have worked very hard over the years to make this day happen.

We understand that this is just Round 1 in the effort to defund Planned Parenthood. There will be many days and much effort ahead to get this amendment through the Senate and signed into law. We are ready to engage that battle, but today we celebrate winning Round 1.

We are sure that God smiled today.

Forty years of Title X is enough

Family In America
Title X officially expired in 1985, yet Congress has continued to appropriate money for the program every year since, including $317 million in 2010, bringing the total amount of federal expenditures for the program since 1970 to an inflation-adjusted $12.4 billion. ... While Title X is the only federal program dedicated exclusively to promoting and distributing birth control, it inspired a number of other federal programs to dispense contraceptives as part of their larger agenda. ... President Barack Obama has thrown another grant program into the mix, one limited to controlling pregnancy among women under 20 years of age, and set up yet another bureaucracy, the Office of Adolescent Health at HHS, complete with a $115 million budget. Even though Title X remains the model program, the cash cow is Title XIX of the Social Security Act (Medicaid), an entitlement that does not depend on annual appropriations by Congress.
'Death panels': Canadian court rules baby's life support removed against parents' wishes

Life Site News

One-year-old Joseph Maraachli of Windsor, Ontario will have his life support removed Monday at 10 am after the Ontario Superior Court today rejected an appeal by the parents to bring him home where he can die under their care. A leading anti-euthanasia advocate says the decision facilitates a system where doctors are authorized to force life and death decisions on patients, warning that this is, in fact, far worse than the "death panels" recently debated in the U.S. as part of the federal health care law.

Pregnant mother who held off cancer treatment rather than abort baby celebrates daughter's birth

Mail Online
A mother who refused to abort her unborn baby after discovering she had leukaemia, has stunned doctors by giving birth to a healthy baby girl. Victoria Webster, 33, was diagnosed with cancer during a routine blood test when she was 21 weeks pregnant. Medics pleaded with her to have a late termination so she could start on a course of life-saving chemotherapy - but warned the medication would kill her unborn daughter.
