Democrats Continue Blasting New Planned Parenthood Probe
More members of Congress all Democrats have come out in strong opposition to the impending investigation a House committee launched this week, when the head of an oversight committee requested numerous documents from the abortion business.

In a September 15 letter LifeNews.com obtained, Rep. Cliff Stearns, a Florida Republican who is the chairman of the House Committee on Oversight and Investigations, writes to Cecile Richards, the president of Planned Parenthood.

The letter requests any information related to improper billing related to federally-funded programs, proof that federal funds are not being improperly used to pay for abortions by PPFA or its affiliates, audits by state agencies of any Planned Parenthood affiliate, and documentation of how many affiliates currently receive Title X family planning funding. The Stearns letter also requests documents on standards and practices related to billing issues, written policies and procedures, and it requests information on how the abortion giant keeps its family planning abortion monies separate and segregated.

Senator Richard Blumenthal, a Connecticut Democrat, has responded to the investigation with the kind of polemic comments similar to those Planned Parenthood issued in response. He follows the new chair, Debbie Wasserman-Schulz, of the Democratic Party, who also condemned the investigation.

Blumenthal calls the investigation an abusive witch hunt by Republicans that is an unconscionable waste of taxpayer dollars despite the fact that Planned Parenthood receives $363 million annually in taxpayer funding from all levels of government. He said the probe is harassment of a trusted healthcare provider for millions of women and families in Connecticut and across the country. http://www.lifenews.com/2011/09/29/democrats-continue-blasting-new-plannned-parenthood-probe/

40 Days for Life Pro-Life Campaign Saving Lives Already
It s just the first day of the 40 Days for Life campaign and I ve already got great news to share! Let s get right to it.

COLUMBIA, MISSOURI

The 40 Days for Life team in Columbia holds its vigils outside a Planned Parenthood center that is the only abortion location between St. Louis and Kansas City.

Last Thursday less than a week before the start of the campaign the abortionist quit!

This is not the first time this has happened. Planned Parenthood in Columbia has gone through six different abortionists during the past two and a half years and this facility has gone months at a time with NO ABORTIONS including times DURING 40 Days for Life campaigns.

Praise the Lord! said Kathy in Columbia. We know that God will do many miracles these 40 days! http://www.lifenews.com/2011/09/29/40-days-for-life-pro-life-campaign-saving-lives-already/

Parents, Tell Your Kids About Abortion; The Baby is Broken
Last year, I took my whole family to the March for Life in Washington, D.C., including my 4 year old daughter, Grace. She frequently goes out to the abortion clinics with me to pray. She knows what it means to be pregnant. She has a very simplified understanding of abortion.

She had never been exposed to any graphic signs. I knew she would be at the March for Life. I didn t know what she would say or how she would handle it, but I didn t want to hide them from her.

We were walking to the March and walked by a large exhibit that showed graphic signs. I thought, Okay, here we go. She will definitely see this. When we got in front of the sign that showed an aborted baby at 24 weeks, she stopped and stared. I stopped, knelt down beside her, put my hand on her shoulder and waited for her to respond.

She probably stood there and stared in silence for about 15 seconds (which is about the equivalent of a year in 4 year old time). Then, she turned around and looked at me with a compassionate expression. She pointed to the picture and said, Mommy, that baby is broken. I smiled at the simplicity and accuracy of her observation. I simply responded, Yes, Grace. That baby has been broken. She grabbed my hand and started walking again.

I wasn t sure if or how she had been impacted by what she saw that day, until a few nights later when we were saying our night time prayers. Grace was praying and said, Please keep babies from being broken and keep them safe in their mommy s tummies. I sighed with relief. She had gotten it. She had made the connection between abortion and that broken baby. http://www.lifenews.com/2011/09/29/parents-tell-your-kids-about-abortion-the-baby-is-broken/

Father of Teen Killed by Abortion Drug Takes on RU 486
The father of a teenage girl who was killed by the dangerous RU 486 abortion drug that she received from a Planned Parenthood clinic has started a new effort to inform women about the risks and dangers associated with it.

This week is the 11th anniversary of the approval of the abortion drug during the waning days of the Clinton administration.

In August 2003, Holly Patterson, then 17, discovered she had become pregnant with her boyfriend, seven years her senior. On September 10, shortly after her 18th birthday, the couple went to a Planned Parenthood clinic to inquire about an abortion of her seven-week-old unborn child. There, she received the first of two drugs in the mifepristone abortion protocol.

At the Planned Parenthood facility, Holly received an abortion drug regimen not approved by the FDA consisting of 200-mg mifepristone orally which blocks the hormone progesteromontene that is required to maintain a pregnancy. At home, 24 hours later, on September 11, she followed the clinics instructions to vaginally insert 800-mcg of misoprostol to induce labor contractions and expel the body of the dead baby.

On September 13, Holly repeatedly called the Planned Parenthood clinic hotline to complain of severe cramping. She was told her symptoms were normal and to take the clinic prescribed Tylenol-Codeine painkiller. Later, Holly called the clinic s hotline again and was told to go to a local hospital s emergency room if the pain continued. http://www.lifenews.com/2011/09/29/father-of-teen-killed-by-abortion-drug-takes-on-ru-486/

Planned Parenthood s Fetal Development Info Lacks Major Facts
The following excerpts are from the Q&A section of Planned Parenthood s website about fetal development, called Pregnancy Week by Week. It conveniently neglects some big milestones during prenatal life. If a pregnant girl were to look for facts about her unborn baby s development on Planned Parenthood s page, she would receive only a small fraction of the information she desires.

Planned Parenthood describes gestational age by LMP (last menstrual period); certain milestones appear as though they occur later after conception than they actually do. For example, when Planned Parenthood says Weeks 5-6, this simply defines when the woman s last menstruation was, and her unborn baby is actually only 3-4 weeks old. http://www.lifenews.com/2011/09/29/planned-parenthoods-fetal-development-info-lacks-major-facts/

Mexico Upholds Pro-Life Amendment Prohibiting Abortion
The Mexico Supreme Court upheld a pro-life amendment passed by the northwestern state of Baja California that calls unborn children people under law and protects them from abortions. Abortion is generally illegal in Mexico except in very rare circumstances, though the Federal District of Mexico City legalized abortions and women from other parts of the nation have started going there for abortions.

The judges on the high court in the Latin American nation debated the state law for three days and judges favoring overturning the law as unconstitutional lost their bid by one vote. The state law affords legal protection for unborn children starting at the moment of conception but the Baja California public ombudsman s office challenged the law on behalf of state residents who opposed it. Eight judges of the 12 are needed to overturn the state law. http://www.lifenews.com/2011/09/29/mexico-upholds-pro-life-amendment-prohibiting-abortion/

Bill De-Funding Pro-Abortion UNFPA Gets Hearing Next Week
Legislation that would cut federal taxpayer funding for the pro-abortion UNFPA agency will get a hearing in a House committee next week, after Republicans put forward the bill following a vote from people saying they wanted it.

Spurred on by a public vote in which pro-life advocates said cutting funding for the pro-abortion UNFPA agency was their top desire, Congressional Republicans filed legislation over the summer to yank millions from the UN organization.

Rep. Renee Ellmers, of North Carolina, introduced the bill and House Foreign Affairs Committee Chair Ileana Ros-Lehtinen, a pro-life Florida Republican, has announced a markup of H.R. 2059 will take place Wednesday.

This is going to save American taxpayers $400 million dollars over a 10 year period and it s just another part of what we re doing here in Washington to cut wasteful spending that we see happening, Ellmers said in a video introducing the bill. And I am very excited to be part of this program and each week we will have more cuts coming forward. http://www.lifenews.com/2011/09/29/bill-de-funding-pro-abortion-unfpa-gets-hearing-next-week/
