Herman Cain Reverses, Signs Pro-Life Pledge on Abortion
Herman Cain has reversed position and decided to sign a pro-life pledge on abortion a prominent pro-life group has had other Republican presidential hopefuls sign that Cain initially declined to attach his name to months ago.

Cain declined to sign the Susan B. Anthony List pledge in June, saying he couldn t do so because he can t advance any pro-life legislation as president, saying, at the time, As president, I would sign it, but Congress must advance the legislation. The statement seemed somewhat nuanced to pro-life advocates in that while Cain, as president, couldn t advance pro-life legislation through Congress, he could undoubtedly use the power of the bully pulpit the presidency affords to persuade members of the House and Senate to advance the bill.

The SBA List informed LifeNews today that Cain has now signed the Pro-Life Presidential Leadership Pledge.

This decision is consistent with the Herman Cain we have come to know, said Marjorie Dannenfelser, president of SBA List, about the pro-life presidential candidate. He understands the wound abortion is to America and especially to the most vulnerable among us people that Planned Parenthood founder Margaret Sanger labeled human weeds.

We commend Mr. Cain for adding his name to the list of candidates who have signed the pledge, and should he be elected to the White House, we look forward to him leading the fight to protect women and unborn children. http://www.lifenews.com/2011/11/22/herman-cain-reverses-signs-pro-life-pledge-on-abortion/

Planned Parenthood to Pregnant Woman: Can t Help You w/o Abortion
A surprise pregnancy last month for 17-year old Addison led to an encounter of the truth behind the Planned Parenthood lie that it exists to help women. In fact, according to Addison, it exists to help women choose abortion and because she didn t want one, they didn t want her.

Addison is a student at the University of Houston, which is very close to the Planned Parenthood abortion supercenter on the Gulf Freeway in Houston. In fact, we took a Bound4LIFE focused Call there in January 2010 to pray and rally against the late-term abortion center being placed right in the center of a minority neighborhood near two universities. Resembling a cash register, the abortion supercenter has a whole floor devoted to surgical abortions, which include late term abortions, yet it masks itself as a women s health center, which is how Addison ended up there.

Away from home, she called her parents, afraid. Uninsured and a victim of lie that Planned Parenthood is there to help people like them her parents sent her to Planned Parenthood to get help, not realizing what Planned Parenthood was. After a home pregnancy test told her she was pregnant, Addison and her fiancé headed to the Houston Planned Parenthood for a blood test. There were no freebies for uninsured Addison here; her fiancé had to pay $70 for the blood test, and they told her the charge first thing, she says. But that wasn t the part that drove her off. http://www.lifenews.com/2011/11/22/planned-parenthood-to-pregnant-women-cant-help-you-wo-abortion/

Romney Names Pro-Life Senator as Possible GOP Running Mate
Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney has gotten specific for the first time about a potential vice-presidential running mate should he receive the GOP nomination for president, and Romney mentioned a pro-life advocate.

ABC News reports that Romney was queried at a town hall forum and said he has a list of more than a dozen people on his short list of potential vice-presidential candidates, but dropped the name of one pro-life U.S. senator from New Hampshire as a possibility.

I have no names for you, it s presumptuous, I m not the nominee, Romney began, then adding, There probably are 15 names of people, including Kelly Ayotte.

We have a deep bench, Romney said of the many potential running mates. This year is really exceptional and whoever our nominee is will be able to choose a remarkable, superb person to be the vice presidential contender. http://www.lifenews.com/2011/11/22/romney-names-pro-life-senator-as-possible-gop-running-mate/

A World Without People With Down Syndrome? At What Price?
One of the great philosophical divisions of our time is between those who believe progress is steadily making mankind happier, healthier, and all-around better; and those who believe human nature is basically constant, with new developments just as capable of yielding evil as they are good. Both worldviews collide in a recent New York Post story on a new method of testing for Down Syndrome:

Last month, San Diego-based Sequenom released a test that allows doctors to screen for the most prevalent type of Down syndrome with only a blood test from the mother. The screening is available in 20 cities and is expected to hit New York soon. Two other companies have plans to release similar tests next year [ ]

Because the current methods of screening for Down syndrome, amniocentesis and chorionic villus sampling, carry a risk of inducing miscarriage, only about 2% of pregnant women in the nation undergo the screening, says Dr. Brian Skotko, of the Down syndrome program at Children s Hospital Boston.

Sounds great except for what expecting mothers might do with the information. http://www.lifenews.com/2011/11/22/a-world-without-people-with-down-syndrome-at-what-price/

Daily Kos Calls Santorum s Pro-Life Position Sharia Law
On Monday, the Daily Kos covered the Saturday night GOP debate in Iowa with a typical headline Republicans pander to American Taliban. (Who s doing the pandering? That s also the title of the latest book by Kos bloglord Markos Moulitsas.) Jed Lewison insisted Rick Santorum was Talibanesque when he said, in the Washington Post account: As long as abortion is legal in this country we will never have rest because that law does not comport with God s law.

Lewison proclaimed: So the next time you hear Rick Santorum complain about government imposition of Sharia law, keep in mind that he doesn t have a problem with violating the separation of church and state. To him, the only thing that matters is whether the government is imposing his beliefs. (Italics in the original.) Blogs like Right Wing Watch (from People for the American Way) seized on the answer.

This is the fuller answer from Santorum: Unlike Islam, where a higher law and the civil law are the same, in our case, we have civil laws, but our civil laws have to comport with the higher law. Our civil laws and that s why the issue of abortion As long as abortion is legal in this country, at least according to the Supreme Court, legal, we will never have rest because that law does not comport with God s law, which says that all life has value, all if is created by I knew you in the womb and as long as there is a discordance between the two, there will be agitation. http://www.lifenews.com/2011/11/22/daily-kos-calls-santorums-pro-life-position-sharia-law/

Pregnancy Centers: Greatest Threat to the Abortion Industry
One of the greatest threats to the abortion business, which has been permitted to prey on our society since the Supreme Court s decision in Roe v. Wade, has not come from legislation or subsequent court challenges, but from loving, caring groups of pro-life Americans, gathering together to support pregnant women through Pregnancy Care Centers (PCCs).

PCCs sometimes known as Pregnancy Resource Centers or Crisis Pregnancy Centers have had a considerable life-affirming impact on the women and the communities they serve. During this week in which Americans especially remember what we are thankful for, it is particularly appropriate to thank the women and men at the thousands of PCCs nation-wide who serve women with compassion and integrity, offering positive alternatives to abortion.

PCCs offer women the opportunity to make real choices. This is in striking contrast to Roe s legalized abortion-regime which has more-than-implicitly suggested that women s equality is only obtainable through the death of their children. In Planned Parenthood v. Casey, a plurality of Justices upheld what it considered the central holding of Roe, by asserting not that Roe was correct on the law or the facts but that there is now a societal reliance on abortion, which facilitates the ability of women to participate equally in the economic and social life of the Nation http://www.lifenews.com/2011/11/22/pregnancy-centers-greatest-threat-to-the-abortion-industry/
