Supreme Court Appears Ready to Throw Out Obamacare Law
The nation s highest court today held a hearing on one of the most contentious portions of the Obamacare law that is opposed by pro-life groups because of rationing and abortion funding concerns the individual mandate.

The mandate requires Americans to purchase health insurance and the judges on the high court made it appear they are very skeptical whether the mandate is constitutional so much so that many Supreme Court observers believe that the law is in trouble.

Potential swing vote Anthony Kennedy, a judge who sometimes sides with pro-life advocates and normally sides with conservatives in top cases but also favors Roe, appeared concerned that forcing people to purchase health insurance would lead them to be required to purchase other products ranging from cell phones to gym memberships, according to Washington Examiner reporter Philip Klein, who attended the hearings. http://www.lifenews.com/2012/03/27/supreme-court-appears-ready-to-throw-out-obamacare-law/

Supreme Court Justices Skeptical Obamacare is Constitutional
Today, the fireworks erupted in day two of oral arguments before the Supreme Court on the constitutionality of ObamaCare s individual mandate.

One of the first questions set the tone for the entire argument skepticism over the constitutionality of the linchpin of ObamaCare. Justice Kennedy got to the heart of the debate over the individual mandate asking, Can you create commerce in order to regulate it?

Justice Scalia chimed in asking, if I m in any market at all, my failure to purchase something in that market subjects me to regulation.

Chief Justice Roberts noted that there is always the unforeseen possibility that one will need police assistance or fire assistance or ambulance assistance. So can the government require you to buy a cell phone because that would facilitate responding when you need emergency services? You can just dial 911 no matter where you are? http://www.lifenews.com/2012/03/27/supreme-court-justices-skeptical-obamacare-is-constitutional/

Pro-Life Students Rip Obamacare Pages in Supreme Court Protest
Live Action, Students for Life of America and other pro-life groups took to the steps of the Supreme Court this morning to counter Planned Parenthood s protest in support of ObamaCare.

The Supreme Court began hearings on ObamaCare yesterday morning and will continue throughout the week and, after tens of thousands of pro-life advocates protested the pro-abortion mandate in Obamacare on Friday, abortion backers are trying to launch their own protests.

Live Action President Lila Rose was on hand to participate.

The Obama administration wants to force religious groups, companies and universities to purchase insurance coverage of abortifacient drugs that kill. This is our generation s Roe v. Wade case, Rose said. This case has the power to decide if the U.S. Government can force every person, including those of faith and conscience, to fund abortion, contraception, and abortion-causing drugs on demand. http://www.lifenews.com/2012/03/27/pro-life-students-rip-obamacare-pages-in-supreme-court-protest/

House Panel OKs Bill to Stop Secret Abortions on Teenagers
Today the House Judiciary Committee approved the Child Interstate Abortion Notification Act by a vote of 20 to 13. The measure is needed to ensure abortion facilities don t violate the parental notification laws of a girl s home state.

Lawmakers support the bill, which would make it a federal crime to transport a minor across a state line in circumvention of a state law requiring parental involvement in the minor s abortion. The legislation is needed as sexual abusers, family members and even staff at abortion centers routinely take teenage girls across state lines for secret abortions without their parents knowledge or permission. It also requires parental notice for abortions on minors who are from a state other than where the abortion will take place.

The following video shows Rep. Lamar Smith, Chairman of the House Judiciary Committee, giving his opening statement on the bill. http://www.lifenews.com/2012/03/27/house-panel-oks-bill-to-stop-secret-abortions-on-teenagers/

Supreme Court Obamacare Hearing Tackles Individual Mandate
Today, March 27, 2012, the Supreme Court will hear two hours of oral argument concerning the constitutionality of the individual mandate. The individual mandate is the essential component of ObamaCare. It requires millions of Americans to buy and indefinitely maintain health insurance or face annual penalties.

The individual mandate marks the first time in the 220-plus year history of our Constitutional form of government that Congress has required American citizens to purchase a product (in this situation, health insurance) from a private company simply because they are American citizens. Previously, Congress provided us with incentives to buy certain products; it did not require us to make those purchases. For example, Congress provided extra money toward the purchase of a new car via the Cash for Clunkers program if we chose to buy a new car, but Congress did not require anyone to buy a new car. http://www.lifenews.com/2012/03/27/supreme-court-obamacare-hearing-tackles-individual-mandate/

Virginia Defeats Sending $3 Million to Planned Parenthood
The Virginia state Senate has defeated an attempt by Democrats in the state legislature to funnel millions in taxpayer funds to the Planned Parenthood abortion business for a routine portion of its abortion process.

Victoria Cobb, the president of the Family Foundation, was worried that, on the heels of Gov. Bob McDonnell signing a bill pro-life groups pressed for that allows women considering an abortion the chance to see an ultrasound of their unborn child, abortion backers in the legislature would send Planned Parenthood money to pay for the ultrasounds. While studies show abortion facilities routinely perform ultrasounds prior to the abortion, they do not always allow women a chance to see the results.

The Senate Democratic Caucus sent a letter to the Governor demanding that Planned Parenthood funding be included in the state budget. http://www.lifenews.com/2012/03/27/virginia-defeats-sending-3-million-to-planned-parenthood/

Pro-Life Movement Brings People Together From All Faiths
As I ve traveled during this 40 Days for Life campaign, there is one constant factor: unity.

Just two nights ago, I spoke at an event in New Jersey and an Evangelical pastor came up afterwards, smiling. I m sure glad the Reformation has not stopped us from working together to end abortion, he said.

This event had Catholics, Protestants and Evangelicals in attendance, and his comment reflected the unity that the pro-life movement should be proud of.

This unity is a gift and the abortion industry sees it as a threat. We re seeing the evidence at 258 vigil locations. Here are just a few examples. http://www.lifenews.com/2012/03/27/pro-life-movement-brings-people-together-from-all-faiths/

Abortion Doc Dumps Thousands of Patient Records in Trash
Yesterday it was revealed that disgraced Kansas City abortionist Krishna Rajanna had thrown, into a school recycling bin, abortion patient records with extensive personal-identifying information while those files were still legally required to be retained and protected. http://www.lifenews.com/2012/03/27/abortion-doc-dumps-thousands-of-patient-records-in-trash/

Abortion Backers Kill Ultrasound-Abortion Bill in Idaho
Abortion backers in Idaho successfully forced a statewide pro-life group to pull a bill from the legislature that would allow women a chance to see an ultrasound of their unborn child.. http://www.lifenews.com/2012/03/27/abortion-backers-kill-ultrasound-abortion-bill-in-idaho/

Trayvon Martin: A Pro-Life Reaction to Racial Politics
The Radiance Foundation has been called, tweeted, and pressed to join the throngs across the nation in protesting the tragic death of Trayvon Martin. Invoking our Black Children Are An Endangered Species pro-life campaign, pro-abortion activists (who ignore and reject all statistics related to black genocide through abortion) demand we step into the fray. http://www.lifenews.com/2012/03/27/trayvon-martin-a-pro-life-reaction-to-racial-politics/

Should IVF Kids Get Social Security Benefits When Parent Dies?

Media Mislead on Abortion-Mental Health Risks for Women
In recent weeks a number of mainstream media outlets have devoted extensive coverage to errors that were made in a recent Journal of Psychiatric Research article authored by Bowling Green professor Priscilla Coleman. The original article found solid statistical evidence that abortion leads to a range of mental problems among women. These include depression, alcohol abuse, and PTSD. However, according to her mainstream media critics, these errors invalidate her findings. http://www.lifenews.com/2012/03/27/media-misleads-on-abortion-mental-health-risks-for-women/

Supreme Court Rejects Patents on Human Genes
For 30 years, the U.S. Patent Office has been issuing patents for naturally occurring genes. About a fourth of our genes are patented by companies who are looking to make a profit off of a molecule we naturally make in our bodies. Objects of nature are not patentable so genes should not be patentable either. As the late Michael Crichton pointed out, issuing patents for naturally occurring genes is like issuing a patent for noses. Such a patent would allow a company to restrict or charge royalties for any product like glasses, sinus medication or sunscreen that has anything to do with noses. http://www.lifenews.com/2012/03/27/supreme-court-rejects-patents-on-human-genes/

Promoting Abortion Worldwide Has Demographic Consequences
They say what goes around comes around, or to paraphrase the Good Book, you reap what you sow. Nowhere is this more in evidence than in recent global data on abortion. For years, feminists have maintained that women will not be truly free or equal unless they are free to abort their unborn children. They have sought to elevate abortion to sacramental status. It has been the defining issue of the feminist movement for decades. http://www.lifenews.com/2012/03/27/promoting-abortion-worldwide-has-demographic-consequences/
