Weekly Reflections

"The people walking in darkness have seen a great light; on those living in the land of deep darkness a light has dawned."

Christmas
Dear Friends,
As we approach the shortest day of the year, it is good to recall that the light of the sun now begins to shine longer in the northern hemisphere. More importantly, with the feast of Christmas, we recall that the light of Jesus Christ has come, continues to shine, and wants to shine more brightly in our world.

He wishes to be with us and remain with us. “Behold, the Virgin shall be with Child and shall bear a Son, and they shall call His name Immanuel, which translated means, ‘God with us.’” How can we fail to be strongly pro-life, when we see that God chooses freely because of His great love, to be born in our world as an infant –Son of God and Son of Mary?

Prayer of Pope John XXIII:
Child of Bethlehem, grant that we may share with all our hearts in this profound mystery of Christmas. Pour into the hearts of all the peace which we seek so desperately, and which You alone can give. Help us to know one another better and to live as brothers and sisters, children of the same Father. Awaken in our hearts, love and gratitude for Your goodness, join us all together in Your love, and give to each one of us Your heavenly peace.
Amen
