Lifeissues.net: clear thinking about crucial issues

Dear Friends For Life,
On Friday, March 22, North Dakota became the first state in the nation to pass a personhood amendment. The North Dakota House of Representatives passed SCR 4009 by a vote of 57-35. The measure passed the State Senate earlier in February and will now be referred to the people of North Dakota for a popular vote in November 2014. The amendment states, "The inalienable right to life of every human being at any stage of development must be recognized and protected." Matt Sande, Pro-Life Wisconsin's legislative director, offered the following comments:

"We commend the North Dakota Legislature for the courage of their convictions in passing the first personhood amendment in the history of the United States. By extending the equal protection of the law to all preborn children from conception, North Dakota is on its way to being the first state in our country to ban surgical abortion without exception. The broad coalitional force that backed the amendment - North Dakota Family Alliance, North Dakota Right to Life, Concerned Women for America North Dakota, North Dakota Life League, North Dakota Catholic Conference, and Personhood North Dakota - is something to be emulated in other states advancing personhood amendments. May God bless North Dakota and her preborn children."
God Bless,
Jerry Novotny, OMI

ITEM #1: Holocaust Just Got More Shocking

Researchers have cataloged some 42,500 Nazi ghettos and camps throughout Europe, spanning German-controlled areas from France to Russia and Germany itself, during Hitler's reign of brutality from 1933 to 1945.

****************************************

ITEM #2: Chlamydia rates have skyrocketed among American women since 2000

Alongside an unprecedented level of access to contraception, the number of American women infected with chlaymidia has skyrocketed in the past decade. Both the number and percentage of women infected have grown in all 50 states and U.S. territories, according to data released by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention released on Monday.

ITEM #3:  Playing God Without the Wisdom of God

The dominant secular culture portrays the world of In vitro fertilization (IVF) and surrogate pregnancies as a great advance for mankind, even as it generates a stream of horror stories beyond the imagination of Greek tragedians. Not a week passes, it seems, without a new disturbing permutation to this culture. "Surrogate offered $10,000 to abort baby," reported CNN this week. So now surrogates are offered money not just to carry children but to abort them. A more complete headline on CNN's story would have been: "Surrogate offered $10,000 to abort baby diagnosed as disabled." Untroubled by eugenic abortion, CNN doesn't even bother to engage that obvious element in the story.

ITEM #4: 10-Eye-Opening Quotes From Planned Parenthood Founder Margaret Sanger

Margaret Sanger has been lauded by some as a woman of valor, but a closer look reveals that Planned Parenthood's audacious founder had some unsavory things to say about matters of race, birth control, and abortion. An outspoken eugenicist herself, Sanger consistently promoted racist ideals with a contemptuous attitude. Read on to learn why Planned Parenthood hides behind a false memory of Sanger, and why, despite her extraordinarily prolific writing career, one rarely sees her quoted by Planned Parenthood leaders and apologists. eg.The most merciful thing that the large family does to one of its infant members is to kill it.

ITEM #5: A warped worldview: another moral effect of pornography

The moral effects of pornography are, by now, well attested. The scourge of pornography has brought ruin and harm into the lives of millions of our friends and neighbors, destroying marriages, distorting sexuality, and poisoning minds.

****************************************

ITEM #6: Breast cancer spike raises concerns about ObamaCare mandate, abortion
A study finding a marked increase in the worst cases of breast cancer has led some pro-lifers to ask if the Obama administration's promotion of contraception and abortion will raise the chances of more young American women developing the life-threatening disease.
****************************************

ITEM #7 Birth Control and the Love of Life
Plato saw fertility as the expression sought by beauty, Proclus saw fertility as the metaphysical property of goodness, Aristotle saw it as the way in which all things strive to partake of the divine fullness of life. Ancient religions were characterized by cults, goddesses, rites, and offerings focused on fertility.

****************************************

ITEM #8: The terrible consequences of forced abortion of the disabled
Children with disabilities - or, as Clarke referred to them, "malformed" people - are often considered unworthy of life. For example, in 1967, the American Medical Association endorsed the abortions of any unborn humans who "may be born with incapacitate physical deformities or mental deficiency." This use of abortion was made legal in a number of states prior to Roe v. Wade.

****************************************

ITEM #9: Pro-Life Group Tries to Stop Using Aborted Babies for Cosmetics

A pro-life legal group is working to stop the use of tissue from aborted babies and embryonic stem cells from illegally being used in cosmetics in Hungary.

****************************************

ITEM #10: Equality's Next Victims: Transgendering Our Children

Although shocking, this article shows you how the "equality" movement is targeting our children like never before.
****************************************
ITEM #11: Report: 336 Million Abortions Under China's One-Child Policy
The health ministry in China released figures yesterday showing 336 million abortions have been carried out in the Asian nation since it first implemented the one-child population control policy.
****************************************ITEM #12: Forgiveness and the Gospel of Life
These words come from the Lord in response to the question: "Lord, how often shall my brother sin against me, and I forgive him? As many as seven times?" On the third Tuesday of Lent, the Church will hear this passage from the Gospel of Matthew and its challenging message of unlimited forgiveness.
