40 Days For Life: DAY 8: Abortion is illegal in most of México...

Abortion is illegal in most of México...
...but that hasn't stopped the abortion industry from attempting to impose abortion on México.
When President Trump defunded abortion providers abroad, Canada's prime minister pledged $650 million toward organizations that perform or promote abortions internationally.
Fortunately, the people of México are standing up for life, their children, and their future.
In 2014, Lourdes Varela started the first 40 Days for Life campaign in México City--where abortion is legal. She and her team then helped spread the campaign to dozens of cities across the country.
Lourdes is now our director of Latin American affairs. She just spent a week visiting 40 Days for Life vigils across México. Here's her report from the road!

Texcoco, México

In Texcoco, Lourdes gave a talk about the abortion crisis and post-abortion syndrome.
When she finished, a woman asked to speak with her. "She said that she had an abortion 21 years ago and she hasn't told anyone until now," Lourdes reported. "Her family is falling apart, and she couldn't stand the pain. When she saw us, she stopped by to pray. After she listened to my talk, she asked for help."
Lourdes was able to work with the local campaign team to find the emotional and spiritual help this woman needs to find healing.

Irapuato, México

On day 1 of the campaign, a pregnant 14-year-old girl in Irapuato was being pushed to have an abortion by her boyfriend. In addition to that pressure, she was also terrified of admitting to her parents that she was pregnant.
The local 40 Days for Life team stormed Heaven with prayers that the young mom would choose life. With support from the prayer warriors and a priest in the community, she talked to her mother.
"Her mother told her that if the boyfriend did not want the baby, it won't be a problem," Lourdes said. "She promised that, as a grandmother, she will be there for her daughter and her grandchild!"
Thank God for pro-life parents and grandparents!

Lindavista, México

March 8 is recognized as International Women's Day. That led abortion supporters to hit the streets in Lindavista and hold signs reading, "Rezamos a favor del aborto legal" or "We pray for legal abortion."
This sentiment also appeared in Tabacalera, México--where pro-abortion feminists held a march--and in México City, where police tried to force vigil participants off the streets. "But Anabel, the leader, showed the police officer the document from the authorities, and the officer left them in peace," Lourdes reported.

Jesus said: “A man was going down from Jerusalem to Jericho, when he fell into the hands of robbers. They stripped him of his clothes, beat him and went away, leaving him half dead. A priest happened to be going down the same road, and when he saw the man, he passed by on the other side. So, too, a Levite, when he came to the place and saw him, passed by on the other side. But a Samaritan, as he traveled, came where the man was; and when he saw him, he took pity on him.
—Luke 10:30-34
Father, we are moved by the lesson of the Good Samaritan, who allowed compassion to influence him more than fear. Give us the same heart. Grant that we may never count the cost of standing up and speaking out for the unborn.
