40 Days For Life: DAY 5: Record-breaking

40 Days for Life celebrates the nomination of Amy Coney Barrett to the United States Supreme Court. Her commitment to life is not only intellectual--rooted in science and reason--but, more importantly, in her daily life as a Catholic mother of seven children (two of whom are adopted). Judge Barrett is a great witness to life, and her nomination makes it a great day for the unborn.

This fall's 40 Days for Life campaign is the biggest ever, taking place in 588 cities worldwide...

...but it's not just the number of cities that's growing. Local leaders have reported record-breaking participation at campaign kickoff events this week.

Mary in Cincinnati saw more than 150 people--covering both sides of the street--attend her vigil launch.

"I think everyone is ready to get back on the sidewalk," Mary said. "You could feel the enthusiasm from the crowd."

Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania

The 40 Days for Life campaign in Pittsburgh hosted TWO Day 1 kickoff events--each with incredible numbers showing up to pray.

An opening procession from a church to the vigil site was so big that it required a police escort. Upon arriving at Planned Parenthood, volunteers spontaneously dropped to their knees in prayer!

That evening, another big crowd gathered to hear 40 Days for Life Outreach Director and former Planned Parenthood manager Sue Thayer speak.

Washington, New Jersey

Washington also hosted a procession to the vigil site, which got a police escort of its own.

"Our biggest turnout yet," noted Jen, the local leader. "Clearly, Jesus was the main attraction. We are confident that this will be a successful 40 Days for Life and hopefully close the doors of this location."

The King will answer and say to them, “Assuredly, I say to you, inasmuch as you did it to one of the least of these my brethren, you did it to me.”

—Matthew 25:31-46

Gracious and merciful Father, we renew our dedication to defending the unborn and all whose right to life is compromised by our godless society’s selfish lack of concern. Free us from our own failures and sins so that we will be truly pro-life in every area of our lives.
