Is eco-anxiety grounds for euthanasia?

Howard Breen, a healthy 68 year old man, has applied for Medical Aid in Dying (MAiD), Canada's pathway to legal euthanasia. He is not ill, but claims he is suffering extreme mental suffering because of "climate change." Breen's doctor diagnosed him with eco-anxiety and biosphere-related depression. This diagnosis does not currently qualify for MAiD, but Breen and others are working to change that. The eerily familiar goal appears to be death on demand for any reason.

The collapse of Roe v. Wade must unite us

With the fall of Roe v. Wade imminent, the pro-life movement is about to be given what it has always wanted: The chance to enact laws to build a culture of life in the United States. But with that opportunity comes the daunting task of convincing our fellow citizens of the absolute evil of abortion. “Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born I set you apart." Jeremiah 1:5 NIV

The intentional taking of life before birth is not new. In fact, one of the signal achievements of the spread of the Gospel in the Greco-Roman world was to push abortion and its close sibling, infanticide, to the margins of society.

It was the Church that swept through as the great pro-life movement, setting standards in medicine, culture, and public policy that still condition the thinking of fractured Christianity in the 21st century. Yet a single argument remains: That the Bible doesn’t specifically condemn abortion, and God gives us free will, so He must be “pro-choice.”

This conclusion depends on some serious misunderstandings, both of the historical context and the sanctity of life ethic woven throughout the Bible.

This ethic can be organized into five main points, supported by Scripture.
