40 Days For Life: DAY 17: Immigration and Abortion

Immigration and abortion are two of the hottest issues on voters' minds as they head to the polls for November's presidential election.

Former Planned Parenthood manager Ramona Trevino recently interviewed human rights advocates across the country and discovered a nefarious connection between these two seemingly unrelated issues.

On this week's episode of The 40 Days for Life Podcast, we break down how the predatory abortion industry eagerly welcomes immigrants and refugees across the border--and then profits from the destruction of their children:

Green Bay, Wisconsin

Ramona helped Jim in Green Bay launch his campaign by speaking at a massive event that drew hundreds of Spanish-speaking pro-lifers.

That event is already paying dividends.

"Our Hispanic outreach has gotten off to an excellent start!" Jim wrote. "Last Monday, several families from Sts. Peter and Paul went out to the sidewalk, led by Sr. Jhoana. You can tell from the picture that this group made an impact."

Even after dozens of 40 Days for Life vigils, the Green Bay team continues to make inroads into new communities--in this case a community that is particularly targeted by the abortion industry.

"When moms and dads and kids are 'out there,' the message we send is undeniable," Jim reflected. "Families that pray together stay together."

Mexico City, Mexico

A short--but very sweet--update from south of the border: Public hospitals across the city have been unable to supply abortion pills!

That's great news for abortion-vulnerable moms and babies.

Duitama, Colombia

A Colombian woman found herself contemplating abortion because she was "afraid of her partner."

Instead of calling the abortion facility, she mistakenly called a pro-life pregnancy help center--which referred her to talk with the 40 Days for Life team!

"Volunteers immediately began praying for her and advised her to talk to her parents," reported 40 Days for Life director of Latin American campaigns Lourdes Varela. "Her parents supported her, and she chose life! Now she is calm and willing to continue with her pregnancy."

They came bringing to him a paralytic carried by four men. Unable to get near Jesus because of the crowd, they opened up the roof above him. After they had broken through, they let down the mat on which the paralytic was lying. When Jesus saw their faith, he said to the paralytic, "Child, your sins are forgiven."

Lord, your love is always the same and somehow always new. Your love is creative. Guide my steps, prompt my conversations, and help me to know how to reach expectant mothers contemplating an abortion. Help me to believe that you can and will work miracles through my faith.

For life,
