Virulently Pro-Abortion, Pro-Gay NY Governor Admits Involvement in High-Level Prostitution Ring

Spitzer had introduced legislation that would eliminate gender from the legal definition of marriage

NEW YORK, March 10, 2008 (LifeSiteNews.com) - It was revealed earlier today that New York governor Eliot Spitzer, well known to pro-life and pro-family advocates for his virulently pro-abortion and anti-family positions, has been involved in a high-level prostitution ring. The governor is married and has three daughters.

The New York Times revealed this morning the details of an investigation that proved that Spitzer was the "Client 9" who was caught via a federal wiretap arranging a meeting with a high-priced prostitute in Washington. The governor met up with the woman at The Mayflower Hotel, paying her $4300 for her services.

According to the Times' source, the ring that Spitzer was involved with was called the Emperors Club VIP; to the prostitutes in the ring, Spitzer was known only as "George Fox," which is the alias under which he booked the room at the D.C. hotel.

The governor only found out that he had been implicated in the investigation into the ring this past Friday. He informed his top aides of his involvement in the ring last night, and today made a public announcement in which he apologized for his misconduct.

"Today I want to briefly address a private matter," said Spitzer in that announcement, with his wife at his side. "I have acted in a way that violates my obligations to my family, and violates my - or any - sense of right and wrong. I apologize first and most importantly to my family. I apologize to the public, whom I promised better. I do not believe that politics in the long run is about individuals. It is about ideas, the public good and doing what's best for the state of New York."

He concluded, "I have disappointed and failed to live up to the standard I expected of myself. I must now dedicate some time to regain the trust of my family. I will report back to you in short order".

Eliot Spitzer is the man who personally introduced legislation in New York that, if passed, would make New York the most liberal state in the country when it comes to abortion. The so-called Reproductive Health and Privacy Protection Act (RHPPA), seeks, amongst other measures, to make a positive "right" to abortion in New York law. Critics of the Act have also pointed out that it could easily be interpreted as forcing all hospitals and doctors to perform abortions, with no conscience exemption. In the past number of months, the governor has strongly pushed to have the legislation passed, citing the passing of the Act as a top priority.

In May of 2007 LifeSiteNews.com reported that Governor Spitzer had introduced legislation that would establish legal recognition for homosexual unions in the state. On April 27 he personally introduced legislation that would eliminate gender from the legal definition of marriage and make denying a marriage license to homosexual couples illegal. Mr. Spitzer had run his election campaign on a platform that included legalizing same-sex marriage in the state.

With the publication of the details of his involvement with the high-level prostitution ring, calls for Spitzer's resignation have begun to circulate. Some sources are speculating that the governor will resign as early as tonight.

James Tedisco, a Republican Assemblyman from Schenectady, called on the governor to step down. "The governor who was going to bring ethics back to New York State," Mr. Tedisco said. "If he was involved in something like this he's got to leave. I don't think there's any question about that."
