CMMB: Your Weekly Reflection in Prayer 1/29/2012

Weekly Prayer Reflection for Winter

"What is this? A new teaching with authority.  He commands even the unclean spirits and they obey Him."

Mark 1:27
January 29, 2012
Fourth Sunday in Ordinary Time

“Unclean spirits” can refer here to the power of sin, but also the reality of sickness.  Throughout His public life, Jesus confronts and shows His power or authority over unclean spirits.
We are privileged to share in the healing power of Jesus - through modern medicine and healing hands, through prayer, and through kind and compassionate words. Everyone who supports the mission and ministry of the Catholic Medical Mission Board shows forth the love and power of Jesus, power over sin and sickness.

Lord God, heavenly Father, whose Son came not to be served but to serve, we ask You to bless all those who follow in His steps and give themselves to the service of their fellow men and women. Endow them with wisdom, patience and courage, to strengthen the weak and raise up those who fall.  May they worthily minister in Your name to the suffering, the friendless and the needy.
We pray in His name, Christ our Lord.
Amen
