For unborn babies, elections are a life-and-death matter.
The governor of West Virginia just vetoed a bill that would have protected unborn babies from the excruciating pain of a late abortion. Because of his veto, unborn babies 20 weeks and older will remain vulnerable to the most horrific, painful late abortions.
This shows how vital it is that every elected official be pro-life. It also shows we need a national law to protect these babies' lives everywhere. But now we've run up against another "leader" who seems to care more about politics than about unborn babies being tortured to death in these late abortions.
NRLC's Pain-Capable Unborn Child Protection Act passed the U.S. House with bipartisan support. But so far, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid has given no indication he will allow S. 1670 to be voted on. Ever.
The bill's sponsor, Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.), is fighting to get the bill heard. But Reid is abusing his power to prevent nearly all votes on measures opposed by pro-abortion interest groups.
Sen. Graham and National Right to Life will do everything in our power to get around these roadblocks, but if Reid is going to persist in protecting his pro-abortion Democratic Senate allies by blocking a vote, there's only one answer: Un-elect the senators whose support makes him majority leader and gives him the ability to abuse that power.
