A look ahead to pro-life
state legislation
By Maria V. Gallagher, Legislative Director
2021 is not even here yet, but already lawmakers in Pennsylvania are working on their legislative agendas. At the top of the list for many legislators are measures which call attention to the sanctity of innocent human life. For instance, Rep. Tim O’Neal (R-Washington County) is reintroducing a bill to make abortion facilities more accountable with regard to health and safety violations. The bill would require abortion centers to post on their websites the results of state Health Department inspections. The websites would also have to show proof of correction for violations of Pennsylvania health requirements. CONTINUE READING
Opening Every Gift
By Bonnie Finnerty, Education Director
In this season of gift-giving, pretty packages with glittery ribbons abound, stirring curiosity and creating anticipation. The completely unexpected gift is often the best. Someone takes us by surprise, filling us with a sense of delight and wonder as we carefully unwrap the layers to discover whatever treasure lies within. Imagine, however, we never open the gift. Perhaps the packaging is not what we expected. Or the ribbon is knotted and the gift difficult to open. Rather than embracing this gift with joyful anticipation, we are discouraged and discard it. Left unopened, we never realize what awaited us. CONTINUE READING

CHAPTER EVENTS
Gettysburg Pro-Life Prayer Rally
Adams County Pennsylvanians for Human Life is sponsoring the annual Pro-Life Prayer Rally in front of the Adams County Courthouse, 111 Baltimore Street, Gettysburg, on Friday, January 22, 2021, from Noon  to 12:30 p.m.  Everyone is welcome to join us for a time of prayer for, and remembrance of, the more than 62 million innocent babies who have lost their precious lives to abortion in the United States over the past 48 years since the Supreme Court wrongly decided Roe v. Wade.  For more information about this event contact chapter president Ruth Santino at ruthsantino@yahoo.com.
Erie March for Life
The 2021 Erie March for Life will take place as originally scheduled, on Saturday, January 23, 2021, just six days before the 48th Annual March for Life in Washington, DC. The March will be held in downtown Erie, once again. Please watch for an announcement about the exact staging location and route. The March will conclude, as is customary, with a brief program of speakers.
The City of Erie has a moratorium on special event permits due to COVID. If the moratorium is lifted before January 23, the March will look very much same as it has in recent years. However, without a special events permit, we will be unable to march on the city streets or have full use of the Pavilion in west Perry Square. Instead, we will march on the sidewalks, observing the normal rules for pedestrians. We will also take care to observe all applicable COVID health and safety guidelines.
