40 Days For Life: DAY 24: From Persecution to a Hug

Ending abortion means changing hearts and minds...

...but is that really possible in a woke culture that cancels pro-lifers and firebombs pregnancy help centers?

Nancy in Hollywood, Florida, found that not even the most aggressive abortion supporters are beyond the reach of God's grace.

"As soon as my husband and I arrived [at the campaign midpoint event], we were swarmed by Pride rainbow umbrellas," Nancy said. "It seemed like their objective was to frighten, intimidate, and encourage an angry reaction."

Two of the agitators followed Nancy's family around the sidewalk--but their attempt to provoke a confrontation failed.

"My daughter turned things around by asking simple questions that developed into a heartfelt conversation that lasted over 30 minutes," Nancy said. "The young woman told us about her rape and years of abuse. She and I hugged each other as we shed tears."

The two instigators suddenly lost their enthusiasm for the pro-abortion counter-rally.

Meanwhile, Nancy and her team used their midpoint event to rally behind their local pregnancy help center.

"In the end, we collected a bunch of stuff for the pregnancy center and were able to share the gospel with two lost souls," she said.

Let God use YOU to change hearts and minds in your city by signing up to pray at:

Vienna, Austria

Vigil participants in Vienna received a treat when a man read about the 40 Days for Life campaign in a newspaper and bought iced teas for prayer warriors to enjoy while they stood vigil.

"It's still hot here during the day," wrote Thomas, the local leader. "So that was nice."

One volunteer noticed two women staring at his 40 Days for Life sign before leaving the abortion facility!

"That happens, of course, a lot of the time," Thomas said.

Teusaquillo Caracas, Colombia

A young woman in Teusaquillo Caracas arrived at the abortion center with her mother.

Fortunately, 40 Days for Life volunteers were on hand to offer information on the support available to her at the local pregnancy center.

"Both agreed to go there--and after learning about the physical and psychological risks of having an abortion, she decided to continue with her pregnancy," said 40 Days for Life director of Latin American campaigns Lourdes Varela. "Praise God!"

Community outreach works!

"We had a man pull over and talk with us," wrote Lisa, the Plainfield 40 Days for Life leader. "He was so happy to see us there and is checking out the 40 Days for Life website to learn more."

And Jesus wept.

--John 11:35

Lord, grant us the courage to weep. Let our tears mingle with yours and with parents who have lost a child. Grant them the solace of your peace, the confidence that their son or daughter is interceding for them in heaven, and the hope that they will be reunited in eternity. Amen.
