Pope Benedict's address to the Roman Rota was dedicated to the importance, and the difficulties of marriage. The Pope emphasized that contemporary culture, marked by a strong subjectivism and moral and religious relativism places the individual and family in the face of pressing challenges. Therefore, only faith can make the love of spouses grow and bear fruit, making space for the presence of the Triune God and making the conjugal life, lived well, a truly joyful story in the sight of the world. Benedict XVI then noted that in cases in which consent is simulated, the situation must be carefully assessed. And he stressed the importance of the witness of an abandoned or divorced spouse chooses not to be involved . . .
