Were there to be no support in the whole history of ethical and moral thought, were there no acknowledged confirmation from medical science, were the history of legal opinion to the contrary, we would still have to conclude on the basis of God's Holy Word that the unborn child is a person in the sight of God. He is protected by the sanctity of life graciously given to each individual by the Creator, Who alone places His image upon man and grants them any right to life which they have.

Alabama Supreme Court: Unborn children are people

Last week, Personhood Alliance reported on a monumental decision of the Alabama Supreme Court, which unanimously upheld personhood in a fetal-homicide case. In the concurring opinion, Justice Tom Parker argued for the full legal personhood of unborn children and boldly called on the U.S. Supreme Court to overturn Roe. He emphasized how broadly and consistently state laws and judicial decisions across the country protect the rights of unborn children, and he contrasted that with "the continued legal anomaly and logical fallacy that is Roe v. Wade."

NY Judge Supports Personhood for Chimpanzees

The push for non-human personhood is escalating

What used to be a marginal, far-fetched concept has become a rapidly growing, global movement in which personhood rights are being fought—and won—for rivers, elephants, whales, chimps, and robots. In America, multiple Progressive organizations are pushing the courts to expand personhood to non-human entities. Only last week, the Vermont Law School hosted a symposium on granting personhood to elements of nature. As defenders of human rights, from the unborn to the elderly, what are we to think of all of this? Is non-human personhood a threat to our biblical worldview; a threat to the pro-life movement? Wesley J. Smith of the Discovery Institute's Center for Human Exceptionalism suggests it is.

Video course examines the six principles of the Christian pro-life movement

To be effective in our pro-life outreach and activism, it is vitally important that we stop and think about the principles that guide us every day. What are they? How can we talk about them, and how can we, as Christians, apply them consistently? As part of our Educational Tools Initiative, National Personhood Alliance Education produced a video course to explore the six principles at the foundation of the Christian pro-life movement and offer simple, practical answers that will help us defend human life and human dignity in the 21st century.

In continuing to honor Pregnancy and Infant Loss Awareness Month, we'd like to introduce you to Now I Lay Me Down to Sleep (NILMDTS), a non-profit organization that offers hope and healing to parents experiencing the death of a baby. Through the beauty and power of professional remembrance photography, each precious child is honored and medical personnel have a meaningful option to offer bereaved parents. NILMDTS also helps families become part of a compassionate and supportive community, alleviating the sense of isolation that often occurs in pregnancy and infant loss.
