We hope this message finds you and your family safe and healthy. We are Al and Kathleen Hartmann, a husband and wife, doctor and nurse team from New York City who have volunteered in Eswatini, formerly Swaziland, since 2001.

Together with a team of incredible Swazi healthcare workers, we bring home-based care to people living in some of the most impoverished conditions.

Over the years, generosity from people like you has allowed us to provide medicine, care, and food packages to thousands of patients. We are so grateful.

We are reaching out because COVID-19 cases in the developing world are growing rapidly and patients like ours need support more now than ever before. Due to the nature of our work, providing care to people who are critically ill or dying, we intimately know the people who would be most devastated if they get COVID-19. We feel called to do as much as we can to protect them from this terrible disease and provide comfort, dignity, and love always.

We cannot describe the gratitude on a woman’s face as she receives pain medication for her dying father. Or the relief of a grandmother who falls to the ground, weeping, at receiving an emergency food pack. Or the wonder of a child who learns about how washing his hands will help keep him from getting sick. These are the moments you make possible through your donation. Thank you for your support.
