40 Days For Life: DAY 33: Don't Count on Politicians

If one thing is clear in post-Roe America, it's that politicians aren't going to end abortion.

As is the case with every human rights movement, Christians will lead the way. That's why 40 Days for Life continues to grow in abortion-friendly states like Maryland, where former Planned Parenthood manager Ramona Trevino just wrapped up a whirlwind tour of vigils.

In Annapolis, Ramona met a woman who showed off a photo of her adult grandson, who was scheduled to be aborted decades ago.

"When the man's mom arrived at the abortion center, she was intercepted by a woman who was praying on the sidewalk and who offered her a loving alternative to abortion," Ramona recounted.

The presence of that pro-lifer made all the difference, and the woman chose life--bringing much joy to her baby's grandmother!

"The grandmother shared how she's still so grateful to the woman who helped save her beloved grandson's life and helped spare her daughter from a lifetime of pain and regret," Ramona reported. "Her grandson is the 'why' behind her presence on the sidewalk today."

There are eight days left in the Lenten 40 Days for Life campaign. Get out there and help spare the life of someone's grandchild!

Morgan and her team stand vigil in front of a new abortion facility that is strategically located in Western Maryland to prey upon abortion-vulnerable women from West Virginia--where unborn children are protected by law.

And that's not the only way the facility is strategically located. Ramona said the abortion business is located just off a busy highway with no sidewalk, leaving precious little room for pro-lifers to work.

But they are not deterred, and their numbers are growing.

"More than half of those in attendance at the 40 Days for Life rally have never participated in a campaign before," Ramona said, crediting Morgan for building a local pro-life movement. "Our leader Morgan is young, convicted, passionate, and a force to be reckoned with!"

Lutherville, Maryland

The 40 Days for Life campaign in Lutherville nearly disappeared when its leader, Jay Walton, tragically passed away last summer.

But Lindsay was determined not to let the vigil fall off the map and signed up to lead the campaign to honor Jay's legacy.

"Lindsay is a godsend," one vigil participant with tears in his eyes told Ramona.

But Lindsay is quick to credit the foundation Jay built--and the other team members who have recently come on board. New volunteers are joining the campaign daily!

"There have been three separate occasions of people stopping, turning their car around, getting out, praying with us, and offering coffee, gloves, and encouragement," Lindsay reported.

Frederick, Maryland

Five young women from a pro-life student group joined the vigil in front of Frederick's Planned Parenthood.

Ramona said that prayer warriors drew many friendly honks, and some passersby even stopped to demonstrate their support for the campaign.

One woman overheard their conversation about abortion and beamed with joy as she approached the team to say "thank you" for their defense of life!

When he returned to his disciples he found them asleep. He said to Peter, "So you could not keep watch with me for one hour? Watch and pray that you may not undergo the test. The spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak."

--Matthew 26:40-41

Most sweet Jesus, my heart aches for your suffering and loneliness in the garden of Gethsemane. Let me never fall asleep again when you so lovingly ask for my company. When I feel alone and afraid, remind me that you are with me and that you feel the pain that I feel. Keep me close to you on this 40-day journey and strengthen me through your blood and tears.
