40 Days For Life: DAY 39: Twins Saved

Many thousands of babies are alive today because states are finally free to protect them from abortion.

These children reveal that what's really at stake in the abortion debate isn't some abstract concept of "choice." Actual lives are on the line.

Last summer, the Washington Post ran a reckless article suggesting that it might have been best for everyone involved if a pair of twin girls in Texas had been aborted back in 2021.

But thanks to the Supreme Court, those little girls weren't aborted. And because readers could see their beautiful faces, the article unintentionally revealed just how ugly abortion advocacy is.

Every 40 Days for Life campaign, one of the most popular emails we send out shares the news of TWINS from around the world who were saved from abortion by YOUR prayers.

On a rainy day in Indianapolis, sidewalk counselors spoke with a woman on her way into Planned Parenthood. They couldn't deter her from keeping her appointment.

"But things are never hopeless when you have God and the power of prayer," wrote Sheryl from the Indy team. "After a while, the young mother came out [and shared that] she was having twins and would not be getting an abortion."

The mom accepted the invitation to visit the nearby pregnancy help center and vowed that she would never return to Planned Parenthood again!

"A precious set of twins," Sheryl reflected. "Two babies!"

And those babies aren't the only twins spared this spring...

Mosquera, Colombia

It took a few days, but vigil participants were able to protect a set of twins and their mom from abortion in Mosquera.

"A 40 Days for Life volunteer met a girl who wanted to abort her twins at the hospital," shared 40 Days for Life director of Latin American campaigns Lourdes Varela.

But the young woman accepted the volunteer's offer of free counseling. "After several days of follow-up, the girl chose life and was referred to the local pregnancy help center," Lourdes explained.

Koprivnica, Croatia

Croatia is one of 40 Days for Life's strongest countries, with vigils in almost every city in the country.

A woman there took the abortion pill, which--thanks be to God--failed.

Her child's father pressured her to try to abort again, but when the ultrasound showed TWO babies, she approached the 40 Days for Life team to ask for help keeping her children!

Wichita, Kansas

A young mother from outside the state drove to Kansas for an abortion.

With three children three years old and younger and an unemployed husband, she explained that an abortion would be "the best thing."

Prayer warriors talked with the woman's mother, who didn't want to lose her grandchild that day.

Make that grandchildren.

"Later the young mother came out happy and said she was going to have twins and was not going to have the abortion," reported Susan, the local leader. "She and her mother celebrated her choice...and waved happily as they left."

Then he said to Thomas, "Put your finger here and see my hands, and bring your hand and put it into my side, and do not be unbelieving, but believe." Thomas answered and said to him, "My Lord and my God!"

--John 20:27-28

Dear Jesus, thank you for the ways that science helps us to better see and know your creation. Please lead every expectant mother to a place that will enable her to see her child with an ultrasound. Grant her the simplicity to see the humanity in her womb and the courage to protect it. Amen.
