Alabama, Frozen Embryos, and the Law

By Edward Mechmann:

The recent decision by the Alabama Supreme Court on frozen embryos has gotten a lot of attention. Not all of the reactions, commentaries, and analysis have been well-founded. The result is more confusion about how the law works, what that means for unborn children, and what we as pro-lifers need to do.

Cecile Richards: "One of Us?"

By Jason Morgan:

In late January former Planned Parenthood director Cecile Richards revealed in a New York Magazine interview that she is battling glioblastoma, an “incurable brain cancer for which the median survival rate is 15 months.” ... I suspect many others like me are praying for her. I also suspect there are those who will be puzzled by this. After all, Cecile Richards was long the public face of the biggest death-dealing organization in North America.

The Tragedy of Kate Cox

From the Winter issue of the Human Life Review

By William Murchison:

For her abortion at 20 weeks - five weeks longer than allowed under Texas law - Kate Cox left the state. Where she went I don't know, nor have I really attempted to find out. ... That is not the point. The point is the tragic light that bathes her story in post-Roe v. Wade era.

President Biden on Abortion: Time for Church Discipline?

By Rev. Paul T. Stallsworth:

As a Protestant clergyman, my overriding concern with the president’s tongue-lashing is how it conflicts with his church’s teaching on abortion, which can be found in the Catechism of the Catholic Church: “Human life must be respected and protected absolutely from the moment of conception. From the first moment of his existence, a human being must be recognized as having the rights of a person—among which is the inviolable right of every innocent being to life” (Second Edition, 1997; 2270, p. 547).

Back to Go Forward

By Rev. Ross. W. Blackburn:

Old books, if we are willing, can correct us. Marvin Olasky’s The Story of Abortion in America (2023) isn’t an old book, but it takes us back to an older time, and therefore functions in a similar way. He and co-writer Leah Savas have offered what they call “a street-level” history, much of which consists of old stories about abortion. The book is remarkable in how it exposes how differently we think today, not only about abortion, but about a lot of things.

Jesus' Transfiguration -- and Ours

By Rev. George G. Brooks:

[T]he interest of Genesis is not in a scientific theory; it is in the way that the world in its original form reflects its creator: light, pure energy, from which all other creatures come to be. Man, the most developed of these creatures, is made in the Creator’s image, possessing inner light as consciousness, intelligence, and freedom.
