Hillary Clinton Caught Giving Kickbacks to Laboratory of ‘Racist’ Donor

By Hilary White

NEW YORK, October 31, 2007 (LifeSiteNews.com) – It has been revealed that leading Democrat presidential candidate Hillary Clinton has received thousands in campaign funds from the Cold Spring Harbour Laboratories under the directorship of Dr. James Watson. Watson recently resigned his position from the lab after his comments to British media were dubbed "racist."

In June this year, Clinton, with fellow New York Democrat Charles E. Schumer, requested that the lab, a leading proponent of human genetic experimentation, receive US $900,000 of taxpayer funds. Federal campaign filings show that Watson donated more than $70,000 to Democrat candidates and their political causes, including a total of $3,000 directly to Clinton's campaign fund.

The donation from Watson, a fervent supporter of eugenic abortion and the use of embryos for genetic research, is well in line with Clinton's militancy on abortion and embryonic stem cell research.

The Washington Times quotes a spokesman for Sen. Tom Harkin, the chairman of the Senate appropriations subcommittee on labor, health, human services and education, saying that in part due to the recent controversy over Watson's comments, the earmark (Clinton requested tax grant)is unlikely to go forward.

Dr. Watson, who won a Nobel Prize for his investigations of the structure of DNA, set off a storm of controversy on both sides of the Atlantic when he told the Sunday Times Magazine of London that he was "inherently gloomy" about the prospects for Africa because, "all our social policies are based on the fact that their intelligence is the same as ours -- whereas all the testing says not really." He said, "People who have to deal with black employees find this is not true."

The tag of "racist" has dogged Dr. Watson's steps since he made the comments and he has since been forced to resign his position as a director of Cold Spring Harbour Laboratories. Some have pointed out, however, that his views stem not from racism but to his belief in eugenics. His comment stemmed from his belief as a strict materialist Darwinist that all human traits are entirely genetically determined. Watson is well known for his advocacy of genetic manipulation to "improve" the human race in areas like intelligence and appearance. This extreme Darwinian Theory is in fact widely held by most of the scientific community, although few are as outspoken as Watson.

Halloween and Harry Potter

Many have asked me my opinion about Harry Potter. There is, among good Catholics, a general unease about the series, but the sense of disquiet is very, very difficult to define. I am at a bit of a disadvantage to comment on any particulars of the books since I have not read any of them or seen the movies, nor do I intend to - I have an aversion to adolescent fads and not enough time to spend on questionable materials when there is so much excellent fare for the soul out there. I do, however, feel it is important to offer some guidance on this issue from a third person point of view because some things can be observed about the books without having read them.

First and foremost, all adolescent obsessions have the capacity to steep the vulnerable souls of these kids in imagery and language that strikes deeper than the sermons they may (or may not) hear on Sunday. Some people give Harry an unqualified "wonderful" rating too quickly because J.K Rowling apparently is a very good writer, but the devotees of a sweeping force like this series tend to pass off the propaganda aspect of these books as harmless because they see it as "innocent" fantasy, and, in my opinion, this is dangerous. 4100 pages of word images about magic and the occult are not harmless, even if they fit the literary genre of "fantasy." Tolkein's Lord of the Rings Trilogy amounts to 1216 pages of beautiful imagery, but relatively few of the pages are about magic, let alone imbued with magic. Indeed, Tolkein's trilogy is a self-consciously mythical representation of reality in the light of the Christian faith, something Rowling can't claim. I find the "fantasy" comparisons of Tolkein and Harry Potter to be deeply flawed.

Fundamentally, Harry Potter indoctrinates young souls in the language and mechanics of the occult. The fact that the fake curses and hexes are not able to be reproduced because the "ingredients" are pure fantasy is beside the point. Curses are not pure fantasy. The fact that "curse" as such, and other elements of witchcraft, are presented in a glorified state throughout the Harry Potter series means that our kids' minds are being introduced to and imbued with occult imagery.

Is indoctrination too strong a term? How about socialization? Should it not concern parents that Rowling only now, ten years after the introduction of the character Dumbledore, admitted that she intended this character to be "gay"? For goodness sake, this character is a father figure and a mentor in the books, and he falls in love with his evil arch-enemy! Rowling has said that her books were a "prolonged argument for tolerance" (Time, 10/20/07). Okay, so no indoctrination going on there, right?

The second dilemma for every Christian parent should be the perennial Halloween fest of negative imagination that these books generate. If Harry Potter is innocent fun, its literary spawn certainly are not. One trip to the Harry Potter section of a Borders bookstore (way before Halloween) gave me pause. Surrounding the Harry Potter rack in the children's section of the store and in the front display were other titles that should raise the hair on the back of any parent's neck. I recount just a few titles here: Dark Possession, The Wheel of Darkness, The Care and Feeding of Spirites [sic], The Night of the Soul Stealer, The Thief Queen's Daughter, Blade of Fire, Secrets of Dripping Fang, My Father's Dragon, The Dark Hills Divide, Peter and the Shadow Thieves, Soul Eater, Chronicles of Ancient Darkness, Vampirates Tide of Terror, Nightmare Academy, Enter the Portal to Monster and Mayhem, Lyra's Oxford (authored by vicious anti-Catholic Phillip Pullman of "Golden Compass" and "His Dark Materials" fame)... and others.

337 million copies of occult imagery are being consumed by our youth in the Harry Potter series alone. The books may be good writing, but the writing is about something dark dressed up as something fun. That's a great way to get kids hooked on the occult.

Sincerely Yours in Christ,

MILLER BOYCOTT ENDED

October 31, 2007

MILLER MAKES CONCESSIONS;

BOYCOTT AND ANTI-MILLER PR CAMPAIGN END

Catholic League president Bill Donohue explained today why the protest of the Miller Brewing Company has ended:

"From the beginning of the Folsom Street Fair controversy, the position of the Catholic League has been that it was insufficient for the Miller Brewing Company to simply apologize for the misappropriation of its logo on an offensive Last Supper promotional poster. What we wanted was an acknowledgment that there were other extremely disturbing anti-Catholic aspects to this event. We have now secured that missing piece. Miller is now saying that following a review of what happened, 'we are aware of other disrespectful activities, objects and groups associated with or present at the fair which, like the promotional poster, violate our marketing policies. We extend our original apology to include these unfortunate events and items as well.'

"This has been a team effort. We are particularly grateful for the support that several bishops and ad hoc groups have shown, especially the wonderful people in Michigan's Chaldean community.

"The Catholic League is happy that Miller has reconsidered this ugly issue and has no plans to revisit it again. Accordingly, the boycott is off. So, too, is our anti-Miller PR campaign. There may very well be a follow-up meeting with the principals to this controversy; we welcome such an opportunity to convey our concerns to the Miller brass. Now it's time for everyone who enjoys Miller beer to resume consumption again."

FROM OPERATION RESCUE:

Pro-life Groups To Announce Protest Plans For Democratic National Convention Next Summer
October 31st, 2007

Denver, CO - Operation Rescue will join with a number of pro-life activist groups at a press conference in Denver on Thursday to discuss plans for demonstrations during the Democratic National Convention to be held next August.

Operation Rescue and a coalition of activist groups will announce their plans for a wide variety of activities during the DNC, including protests, prayer vigils, and concerts, to the media on Thursday, November 1 at 12:00 p.m. The news conference will be held in front of the Pepsi Center on Chopper Circle.

"We are taking steps now to insure that the First Amendment rights of the people to speak out are upheld in the City of Denver during the DNC. We know that certain permit processes have been changed by the city to make free speech more difficult during the Democratic Party event, and that should be very concerning to every American who values freedom," said Operation Rescue President Troy Newman.

"We are calling on all men and women of conscience to join us in Denver next summer to speak out on behalf of the pre-born babies, and send a strong message to the Democratic Party and the nation that abortion must end. We are calling on the City of Denver to allow our message to go forth peacefully and without obstruction."

Parents Warned Against Giving to UNICEF this Halloween - UNICEF Still Promoting Abortion

By John-Henry Westen

TORONTO, October 30, 2007 (LifeSiteNews.com) - Halloween is here again, and with it the fundraising drive for UNICEF the so-called children's fund of the United Nations which has been mired in abortion support for the last twenty years. The organization has not learned from its past and continues to engage in the anti-life agenda. Earlier this month UNICEF joined Planned Parenthood International and the UN's population control arm UNFPA in sponsoring a women's conference, one thirds of which was dedicated to promoting abortion. (http://www.lifesite.net/ldn/2007/oct/07101201.html )

UNICEF has been implicated in population control and "family planning" measures for many years as thoroughly documented in Winnifred Prestwich's 1993 pamphlet UNICEF Guilty as charged. The organization descended even further in 1995 when Carol Bellamy, a radical pro-abortion activist, became the executive director of the organization, a post she held till April 2005. From her elevated position, Bellamy turned UNICEF into a more direct force behind the promotion of abortion and abortifacient contraceptives working hand in hand with the notorious UN Population Fund (UNFPA) in such activities. (See LifeSiteNews.com's archive on such UNICEF activities: http://www.lifesite.net/waronfamily/unicef/ )

The change in focus at UNICEF quickly became apparent causing the Vatican's UN Mission to issue a press release in 1996 noting that it was withdrawing its symbolic donation of support to UNICEF. The release noted that UNICEF had "begun to divert some of its already scarce economic and human resources from the care of the most basic needs of children" to abortion supporting activities. (see the Vatican release: http://www.lifesite.net/waronfamily/unicef/vatican1196.html )

Jim Hughes, Vice President of International Right to Life Federation suggested that pro-lifers use the opportunity to give support to international aid organizations assisting mothers and children in the developing world, and at the same time respect the right to life.

Such organizations include:

MaterCare International

Canadian Food for Children

The Holy Childhood Association

Clarification On Philadelphia Event

Operation Rescue will not be holding an event in Philadelphia this November.

A recent press release originating from Randall Terry said, "Operation Rescue to Hold 20th Anniversary Event in Philadelphia." However, that event is being held by Randall Terry, not by Operation Rescue.

"Randall Terry's use of our organization's name has caused some confusion. This notice will serve as a clarification to our supporters and the media that Operation Rescue has nothing to do with the Philadelphia event," said Operation Rescue President Troy Newman.

"Randall Terry is not associated with Operation Rescue, and has no authority to speak on behalf of this organization," Newman said.

Play at Catholic high school in Oakland recounts young woman’s experience of Rwandan genocide

"Kill them big, kill them small, kill them, kill them, kill them all!"

Bishop O'Dowd High School in Oakland, California, will present a student-written and directed play about the experiences of a young woman who lived through the Rwandan genocide in 1994. They play about Immaculée Ilibagiza, a Catholic, tells how she learned forgiveness for the very people who killed members of her family.

Ilibagiza, a member of Rwanda's Tutsi people, has written a book, Left to Tell, about the murderous uprising of the Hutus against the Tutsi from April to July 1994, which left 800,000 to 1 million Tutsis dead.

Six months after abortion was legalized in Mexico's capital – the Federal District – abortion is being practiced regularly in only six of the 14 public hospitals of the city, according to Jorge Serrano Limón, longtime leader of the pro-life movement in Mexico. In three other hospitals, medical personnel have performed only a few abortions because of resistance from doctors and nurses. And in another five hospitals, medical personnel have refused to perform any abortions at all.

Delay In Tiller Grand Jury Does Not Affect Planned Parenthood Effort

Delay In Tiller Grand Jury Does Not Affect Planned Parenthood Effort

Olathe, KS - October 28, 2007 - Photos are now available of the press conference conducted by the L.I.F.E Coalition on Friday, October 26, 2007, and the submission of 6,400 signatures to the Johnson County, Kansas, Clerk of the Court, demanding that a grand jury convene to investigate alleged criminal activity by Planned Parenthood. On the same day those signatures were submitted, the Kansas Supreme Court Chief Justice Kay McFarland, an abortion supporter, ruled to block the Tiller grand jury in Wichita for an indefinite time. That grand jury was scheduled to convene on Tuesday, but now will not meet.

The Tiller ruling does not affect the Planned Parenthood grand jury effort.

The Planned Parenthood grand jury petitions have been submitted with nearly twice the required signatures and now, by law, the county has 60 days to impanel a grand jury and begin the investigation. "We urge prayers for both grand jury efforts. It is clear based on information already in the public domain that Kansas abortion clinics are operating as though they are above the law. If our laws are to mean anything, they must be enforced, without regard to the personal political biases of District Attorneys, Attorneys General, or Supreme Court Justices," said Operation Rescue President Troy Newman. "Anything else is a subversion of justice and evidence of a corrupt political system that would rather protect illegal abortions than the innocent babies and the women the laws were enacted to protect."

Operation Rescue is one of the leading pro-life Christian activist organizations in the nation. Operation Rescue recently made headlines when it bought and closed an abortion clinic in Wichita, Kansas and has become the voice of the pro-life activist movement in America. MILLER’S APOLOGY IS INSULTING

October 25, 2007

Catholic League president Bill Donohue responded today to the latest news regarding Miller's sponsorship of anti-Catholicism:"

The Miller Brewing Company and the Board of Directors of the Folsom Street Fair have both issued press statements this week apologizing for the offensive Last Supper poster that was used to promote the event. As such, they have insulted Catholics one more time. Let me be specific.

"The poster was the least offensive part of this Catholic-bashing forum. What was even more offensive was the sight of Christian symbols being sold at this Miller-sponsored fair as sex toys. The obscene and blasphemous names of these vulgar sex toys are so disgusting that no mainstream newspaper would print them. Then there was the incredible sight of a stripper and a man dressed as Jesus hoisted in cages above a Catholic church on a Sunday. This was done to provoke, taunt and insult Catholics. And who greeted everyone at the street fair? Men dressed as nuns. Had they been dressed like Al Jolson—with blackened faces—they would have been run out of town as racists. "The Folsom Street Fair news release on this subject shows how utterly clueless its officers are. It says, 'The mission is to create volunteer-driven leather events that provide the adult alternative lifestyle community with safe venues for self-expression while emphasizing freedom, fun, frolic and fetish and raising funds to benefit charity.' "To which I say: If your idea of a 'safe venue' 'self-expression' and 'fun' includes men being beaten with chains in broad daylight, men who masturbate in the street, and men who perform oral sex on each other in public—I have pictures of these acts—then spare Catholics of your 'fun.' Leave us out of it and you can do to each other whatever you want. "The only thing Miller is worried about is its logo appearing on a poster for an event it could not possibly defend. Not until it pledges not to sponsor Catholic-bashing events will the Catholic League call off its boycott and its anti-Miller PR campaign. We're like that proverbial fly who just won't go away."

A NEW WEAPON IN FIGHT FOR THE UNBORN

New York Pregnancy Center's Mobile RV Continues to Help Women Avoid Abortion

by Steven Ertelt
LifeNews.com Editor
October 25, 2007

New York, NY (LifeNews.com) -- A New York chain of crisis pregnancy centers continues to provide positive alternatives to women considering abortions in the Big Apple. The center has employed a unique idea by using a converted motorhome with a portable ultrasound unit to assist women with unplanned pregnancies.

LifeNews.com reported in February about Expectant Mother Care's mobile unit and its plans to park the motorhome at major abortion facilities six days a week to give women other options apart from abortion.

EMC founder and president Chris Slattery told LifeNews.com at the time that the idea marked "a dramatic new chapter in the pro-life movement's efforts to reach out in compassion to women" and he says the mobile unit continues to help women.

Slattery gave an update on the outreach to CBN News.

"We go out to the toughest neighborhoods in the South Bronx and the most international area of Queens where there's a huge pocket of abortion clinics along a strip we call it 'Abortion Row,'" he said.

On four days out of the week, Slattery and his ultrasound technician and bilingual counselor head to an abortion center in the Bronx. They offer free ultrasounds and helpful counseling for women in a variety of situations.

"We're probably intervening with a dozen women a week who we get to take an ultrasound, talk with the counselor in either English or Spanish," he told CBN.

Slattery said the mobile pregnancy center is seeing a high percentage of success.

"We are successful probably eight out of 10 times. We're successful in turning the mother around if we can get her in to talk with us," he explained.

Julie Beyel works with the RV and tries to get women headed to the abortion business to talk with her staff instead, she told CBN News.

"What I do is I basically look…to see if women may be getting dropped off in a cab and I approach that woman to let them know we offer free help for pregnant women," she explained.

Slattery indicated that the abortion center can't do much about their presence.

"There's nothing they can do except the cursing they throw at us and occasional harassment of us. We're pretty much free to do what we want on this public sidewalk," he said.

He said pregnancy centers across the country have visited with him about the mobile center with the idea of duplicating the concept in their communities. He said pro-life advocates as far away as New Zealand have contacted him.

A New Weapon in Fight for the Unborn

By Charlene Israel
CBN News
October 26, 2007

CBNNews.com - The battle over abortion has been going on for more than 35 years. Now there's a new weapon in the pro-life movement to save the lives of the unborn.

Taking It to the Streets

A 32-foot-long, brightly colored mobile home dodged in and out of traffic and made its way down the narrow streets of New York. It's a sight you don't see every day.

But this isn't just any old RV. This one has a portable ultrasound unit onboard - and its mission is to save unborn babies.

It's called 'Operation Frontline' and it's a pro-life mobile ultrasound clinic - the first of its kind in New York. Veteran pro-life activist Chris Slattery heads the operation.

CBN News recently went for a ride in the life-saving vehicle.

"We go out to the toughest neighborhoods in the South Bronx and the most international area of Queens where there's a huge pocket of abortion clinics along a strip we call it 'Abortion Row.'"

Four days a week Slattery, along with his full time ultrasound technician and bi-lingual crisis pregnancy counselor, pull up to an abortion clinic in Bronx, New York.

They offer free ultrasounds and friendly compassionate crisis counseling to all pregnant women who are on their way to have an abortion.

"We're probably intervening with a dozen women a week who we get to take an ultrasound, talk with the counselor in either English or Spanish. We are successful probably eight out of 10 times. We're successful in turning the mother around if we can get her in to talk with us," he said.

'Operation Frontline' also reaches out to pregnant women who plan to keep their babies

Julie Beyel works with Slattery as a sidewalk counselor.

"What I do is I basically look…to see if women may be getting dropped off in a cab and I approach that woman to let them know we offer free help for pregnant women."

She says she explains to the woman that an abortion clinic does not really help women. She explains that instead "it leaves women with negative feelings - maybe feelings of guilt."

Time for a Baby Shower

Ultrasound technician Wadiya Penzellna says the results are amazing and rewarding. She says that some of the women who decide to keep their babies will return with pictures of their infants.

"I have pictures. We speak a lot, go to baby showers. It's been nice," she said.

So what's the response from the abortion clinic?

Slattery says, "There's nothing they can do except the cursing they throw at us and occasional harassment of us. We're pretty much free to do what we want on this public sidewalk."

He says the idea for a mobile pro-life center is catching on.

We're finding people are coming here to visit us to see how we're doing this from around the country," he said. "We've even had inquiries from New Zealand about opening up a mobile clinic like this."

But despite the positive results, Slattery says he has one regret.

He said, "I just wish we had thought of this many years ago. We're going go full whole hog with this now and save as many lives with this tactic as we can."

Revised SCHIP Bill Does Not Codify Rule Helping Women Avoid Abortions

by Steven Ertelt
LifeNews.com Editor
October 25, 2007

Washington, DC (LifeNews.com) -- Pro-life groups largely did not weigh in on Thursday on a bill to reauthorize the SCHIP program, but the measure could possibly have picked up extra votes had it contained a provision they support. The bill did not codify a program into law that helps pregnant women avoid abortions.

In 2002, President Bush authorized a change in the SCHIP program that allowed states to cover poor pregnant women and their unborn babies under the medical insurance program.

In total, 12 states including California, Rhode Island, Massachusetts, Texas, Wisconsin and Michigan have done so.

Pro-life groups were thankful for the "unborn child rule" Bush put in place because it provides help to vulnerable pregnant women who might have an abortion because of financial pressures.

When Congress considered a bill to massively expand the SCHIP program, pro-abortion leaders removed the unborn child rule. Eventually, Senator Chuck Grassley of Iowa added an amendment that made sure the rule stayed in place for now.

However, lawmakers rejected an amendment by Sen. Wayne Allard of Colorado to make the unborn child rule a permanent part of the SCHIP program.

President Bush ultimately vetoed the bill and Democratic leaders put forward a revised version of their SCHIP expansion bill on Thursday that failed to get enough votes to override a second expected presidential veto.

Douglas Johnson, the legislative director of National Right to Life, told LifeNews.com that "the Democratic leadership in the House [again] refused to allow a vote on an amendment to codify the rule," with language similar to the Allard amendment.

While the revised SCHIP bill contains the Grassley "neutrality" language, abortion advocates missed out an opportunity to gain more support for the bill by prohibiting lawmakers from making the unborn child rule permanent.

States are still free to use the rule to help poor pregnant women avoid abortions but Congressional leaders could still work to topple it, especially if an abortion advocate is elected in next year's elections.

"BELLA" THE MOVIE

Make-or-break weekend

Pro-life movie "Bella" debuts in 29 US cities; public's reaction will decide film's fate

When he turned away from his "vida loca" as "a sexy guy -- a womanizer -- and a liar" both on-screen and off, Mexican actor Eduardo Verastegui said in a recent TV interview, he considered the possibility that he might never act again.

"The movie roles I was offered, they were more of the same -- glamour and trash," Verastegui told Morris Cerullo of HelpLineTV.com. "For three years, I didn't work. But I realized I wasn't born to be an actor. I was born to know, love, and serve Jesus Christ our Lord."

Feminists don’t speak for women, says Dominican cardinal in blistering reply

.- Cardinal Nicolas de Jesus Lopez Rodriguez of Santo Domingo, responded to criticism by radical feminists this week who accused him of pressuring the country's legislature not to legalize abortion, saying these groups do not represent the interests of women.

"Women have always had all of my respect," the cardinal said, "but I have never agreed, nor will I ever agree, with feminists of the bad kind, who are given over to everything except helping women."

According to the cardinal, feminists, together with the United Nations, are the ones pressuring the governments of the world to legalize abortion.

Feminist groups, he explained, do not fight for the dignity of women, but rather they bring women down with the help of some sectors of society.  "Only an imbecile, a moron, someone ignorant of everything, could defend that position," he said.

FROM FIDESNEWS:

AMERICA/CHILE - The Church and Pro-Life groups mobilise against government fines on pharmacies refusing to stock abortion pill: fines attack life and freedom

Santiago de Chile (Agenzia Fides) - The Chilean ministry of health has fined three chains of pharmacy shops 33 million pesos for refusing to stock an abortion pill. Up to now Chile's principal laboratories refused to produce the pill which had to be imported, but five months ago the pill was made available in the country and the ministry says pharmacies which refuse to stock it will pay a double fine and risk being forced to close down.

Bishop Fernando Chomali, Auxiliary of Santiago and a member of the Pontifical Academy for Life, said in an article "The intolerance of the tolerant"', "the government fines pharmacies which refuse to stock the product on the grounds that the latter violate the people's right to have access to the product. However, when used the pill violates even more fundamental rights " the right to life of the unborn child, protected by the Constitution; the right of pharmacies, by virtue of the principle of autonomy, to decide not to sell a product clearly harmful to health, and lastly the right to be adequately informed of the real effect of the pill. Moreover, Bishop Cromali affirms, "to oblige material and formal collaboration to sell a product harmful to health is clearly an act contrary to reason and contrary to the law ", and therefore "constitutes not only an abuse of power and a product of a mistaken concept of democracy, it is also an act of intolerance in the name of tolerance."

In this situation many Pro-Life groups have mobilized affirming that to force someone to sell a product which leads to abortion is unacceptable. Muévete Chile association has launched a campaign in support of the pharmacies which refuse to stock the pill urging Chileans support the pharmacies recalling that the fines are an attack on life and an attack on freedom.

In a statement in support of the pharmacies the Network for Pro Life and Family Institutions affirmed "this harassment and fines on pharmacies are a direct attack on the conscious objection of pharmacists. They violate freedom of trade, imposing a product which is neither necessary, urgent nor therapeutic".

PRESS RELEASE FROM OPERATION RESCUE

KS Supreme Court Blocks Tiller Grand Jury
October 26th, 2007

Topeka, KS - The Kansas Supreme Court ruled today that the grand jury called to investigate late-term abortionist George Tiller by over 7,000 citizens of Sedgwick County will be delayed at least until November 16.

Operation Rescue President Troy Newman issues the following statement in response to the ruling:

Today the Kansas Supreme Court has ruled to ignore Kansas law that gives citizens the right to convene a grand jury to investigate criminal wrong-doing. In doing so, they have become contributors to the crisis in Kansas that has been caused by what we believe to be an out of control abortion industry that operates as if the laws do not apply to them. They have also become enablers to Tiller's illegal abortion ring that continues to take the lives of viable babies in a manner that we believe is contrary to Kansas law.

The allegations that the citizens have asked a grand jury to consider, including illegal late term abortions from 2004-2007, have never been fully investigated. The fact that the Kansas Attorney General has brought 19 similar criminal charges on a small number of 2003 records gives the grand jury investigation both credibility and urgency.

We demand that the KS Supreme Court enforce the laws of Kansas and allow the grand jury investigation into George Tiller's abortion business to go forward as allowed by statute. It is unconscionable to deprive the citizens of Kansas the ability to seek justice in this way.

Fr. Euteneuer sees 'Irony' in Archbishop of Canterbury's Abortion Statement

FRONT ROYAL, VA October 25, 2007 (HLI.org) – The Rev. Thomas J. Euteneuer, STL, president of Human Life International, (HLI) today remarked on an op-ed appearing in the British publication The Observer on October 21, entitled, "Britain's abortion debate lacks a moral dimension" by the Archbishop of Canterbury, Dr. Rowan Williams.

Father Euteneuer said, "While not agreeing with everything Dr. Williams said, I certainly appreciate his comments on the tragedy of abortion in commemorating the fortieth anniversary of the British Abortion Act. He is certainly correct about the moral 'slippage' that has occurred, where abortion is viewed far more casually today than was foreseen in 1967."

"However," Fr. Euteneuer said, "As a Roman Catholic priest I see a genuine irony in his comments. At one point Dr. Williams asks, 'We may well ask what has happened' in regard to this slippage. For a Roman Catholic what has happened is all too clear: In 1930 The Church of England was the first Christian church to allow the separation of procreation from the marital act in the Lambeth decision on contraception and gave endorsement, even if unwittingly, to future policies which would allow the killing of children. It's a small step from excluding children from sex to expelling children from the womb." Fr. Euteneuer said.

"The 'slippage' Dr. Williams speaks of is precisely what Pope Pius XI warned of in the Papal encyclical, Castii Conubii, issued in response to Lambeth, and what Pope Paul VI reiterated in his 1968 encyclical Humanae Vitae. These popes said that the widespread use of contraception would lead to 'a general lowering of morality'. By now we see this in our entire society. On the social as well as the personal levels, contraception and abortion are two sides of the same bad penny." Fr. Euteneuer said.

He continued, "If you think it through, Dr. Williams's comments on our current moral climate tend to vindicate the Roman Catholic position on birth control as still the only realistic position if we hope to restore moral sanity. HLI hopes that all good-willed people will take a hard look at how we got where we are today and recognize the role contraception played in it. It is my prayer that the centuries-old Christian consensus on the sin of contraception, which all but vanished at Lambeth, will be restored."

Fr. Tom Euteneuer: Fifty Years of Grace and Blessing

"The words I spoke to you are spirit and life." (Jn 6:63)
Human Life International e-Newsletter
Volume 01, Number 90 | Friday, October 26, 2007

Fifty Years of Grace and Blessing

"Ask and you shall receive, that your joy may be full." (Jn 16:24)

I have a great joy to share with the world, a joy that by all accounts is undeserved. Tomorrow, October 26th, will mark the Golden Jubilee of my parents' wedding! Their children, grandchildren and great grandchildren will be gathered around them to share our deepest joy for their fifty years of grace and blessing! Our joy is full indeed.

Joseph Euteneuer and Mariann (pron. Mary Ann) Selter were married at St. John Berchmans Church in Detroit, Michigan in the year of the Sputnik launch when "Ike" was president and the US population was only 172 million. (Now it has surpassed the 300 million mark.) They hurriedly set about to increase the population with seven children of their own! Those were the days before the "overpopulation" crisis was manufactured and people actually wanted to bear children - in abundance. But it was not out of social conformity that my parents had seven children of their own. They gave life so generously because they love life! Specifically, they love being givers of life, a precious vocation that many are called to but few have the courage to embrace with the generosity of my parents. Due to Depression Era health problems, my father was an only child and my mother was one of just two, so their love of children was born out of an understanding of what a true gift a brother and sister can be to a child.

My father has spent the better part of forty years continuing to give life to young kids through scouting, helping to form them in one of the most family-friendly programs known to man. Countless generous hours are given each month to this work but not just in his retirement: I remember Dad telling me, during the busiest part of his life, that he worked his forty-hour job as an engineer and then volunteered another forty hours a week or so to the scouts so that his sons could participate in activities with their dad by their side. Scrap books full of pictures of Dad and us on camping trips are witness to the fact that we had a devoted and loving dad always present in our formative years.

Mom's vocation has been bound up with taking care of the most vulnerable of God's children. She nurtured not only her own seven children but has lived a life of total self-giving to the real needs of others. As a young nurse in labor and delivery, she held and loved the little ones that were her charge. As an experienced nurse, she cares for the dependent elderly whose needs are sometimes as critical as the babies'. I recall the many, many years when Mom worked the night shift, slept while we were at school, and took care of all our needs as if we were the only ones in her life who needed anything. Never a complaint was heard. Hers is a life of tangible love - good measure and flowing over, as they say.

For fifty years Mom and Dad have sowed and the rest of us reaped the benefit. Isn't that the way love works? Now it's time for us to give back. I tell people who are less than generous with their call to childbearing that you really only reap what you sow in life. "He who you sows sparingly will reap sparingly, and he who sows bountifully will reap bountifully," says St. Paul (2 Cor 9:6); and truly there is no greater return on investment than the willingness to sow bountifully the seed of children for God.

Dad has just passed the eight-decade mark and Mom is following along behind him in years, but it is a certifiable fact that this perennially-young couple will never be in need of anything even though the years advance. They have secured their future, at least temporally, by having kids. Their hope now is that they have given their children the proper moral and spiritual foundation to assure that they will have a group of loving little ones praying them into heaven on that day that they are called Home. It's a good bet in my book.

Oh, and by the way, if anyone ever asks me where I got my pro-life credentials, I don't try to explain myself. I just tell them that Dad stands out in front of the local Planned Parenthood in the hot Florida sun every week to remind the world that evil has its consequences; and nurse Mom still gives ultrasounds to women in crisis pregnancies at the Pregnancy Care Center that her priest-son founded across the street from an abortion mill.

The apple doesn't fall far from the tree, right?

Sincerely Yours in Christ,

Rev. Thomas J. Euteneuer,

Sixty Groups Ask Congress To Block Planned Parenthood Funding

October 25th, 2007

Washington, DC - In a noteworthy show of unity, a coalition of sixty pro-life/pro-family advocacy groups have sent a letter to each United States Senator and Congressman asking them to stop Federal funding to Planned Parenthood. Operation Rescue added its support to the letter, which included such a list of heavy-hitters in the conservative arena such as Concerned Women For America, Focus on the Family, Eagle Forum, American Family Association, Traditional Values Coalition, and Americans United for Life, to name a few.

The letter was prompted by 107 criminal charges that were filed last week against Planned Parenthood by Kansas District Attorney Phill Kline alleging that Planned Parenthood of Kansas and Mid-Missouri committed illegal abortions then made false statements regarding the abortions to governmental authorities to which they are required to report.

"We are privileged to stand with 59 other groups in calling for a halt to the funding of Planned Parenthood. Tax payers should not be forced to fund an organization that is under criminal indictment for operating outside the law," said Operation Rescue President Troy Newman.

News from the Trenches

From California Catholic Daily

Saturday, Oct. 13, 2007 – Our Lady of Fatima procession, San Diego

"We first walked in procession to Planned Parenthood, where we prayed a decade of the Rosary."

Dozens of Catholic crusaders marched in procession from Our Lady of the Rosary church to the nearby Planned Parenthood and Family Planning Associates abortion mills on Saturday, Oct. 13.

Participants in the procession carried a Lady of Fatima statue and a large banner reading, "We are praying for an end to abortion." We hit the streets at 1 p.m. on the 90th anniversary of the last Fatima Apparition. The block-long procession was an impressive public witness.

We first walked in procession to Planned Parenthood, where we prayed a decade of the Rosary. We then moved on to a location at Balboa Park across the street from the Family Planning Associates abortion mill. There we joined by another public Rosary group headed by Rally Captain Terry Laughlin.

It was an honor to venerate Our Lady of Fatima and commemorate the 90th anniversary of the last Fatima apparition. Surely many graces will come from the 2,000 rallies held at the same time across the country.
