TERRI'S PRESS RELEASE

July 15, 2008

Dear Friend,

I would ask that you take a few minutes to read the following comments by Wesley J. Smith regarding a recent story published in the St. Petersburg Times, "Dehydration of a Conscious Patient in Florida Reported as No Big Deal by St. Petersburg Times."

It is stories like this that confirm why Terri's Foundation exists and why we need to continue battling against this alarming "quality-of-life" attitude that – sadly – seems to be only growing in our culture today.

Moreover, as evidenced by this Times story, there are people across our nation that are dying – right now – of deliberate dehydration and other often-disguised forms of euthanasia.

Over the past three years, since we first began advocating for families, Terri's Foundation has been there to help protect the lives of loved ones.

  • We were there when a young man was threatened with termination because of a brain injury. We helped his desperate mom find legal aid and physicians in her attempt to provide loving care for her son.

  • We were there when an 11-year-old girl was given a death sentence by her doctor, the state, and the courts because they all said she would never recover. We petitioned the governor to act to change the law and preserve this precious girl's life. Her life was saved – and just recently she testified in court about her ordeal.

  • When a son learned his mother's life was in jeopardy because other family members wanted her care stopped, we worked closely with the son to provide the legal means to allow him to care for his mom as he'd been doing for years.
These are only a few examples from among the dozens of cases on which we have worked, showing just how fragile life can be.

We are making a difference and we have been successful in saving innocent lives and assisting families – but we need your help. These families need your help!

Calls come into the Foundation repeatedly from desperate families frantically trying to save the lives of their loved ones. When those calls come, we immediately connect the concerned family members with needed legal assistance as well as medical support.

We are on the front lines, fighting to preserve a culture of life. And there is so much more to be done. Every day Terri's Foundation fights for our most vulnerable, knowing that nothing diminishes their intrinsic value and we are determined to stand in the gap for these victims and their families.

But the proponents of death are well funded.

Terri's Foundation operates solely on the generous contribution of friends like you that enable us to help these families in their struggle to protect the lives and dignity of their loved ones.

Please know how grateful we are for your ongoing interest in what we are doing at Terri's Foundation as we continue to help these caring families. But please know this help is not possible without your support.

Depending on the complexity of a situation our costs to provide services to families facing these life and death situations can exceed $200.00 per day. If you could be so kind as to make a donation to Terri's Foundation today, every dollar you give will help save lives.

Whatever you can contribute is sincerely appreciated.

Thank you!
Bobby Schindler
