Your Weekly Reflection in Prayer: Happy Father's Day!

“The kingdom of God is like a mustard seed, the smallest of all the seeds. But once it is sown, it springs up and becomes the largest of plants and puts forth large branches so that the birds of the sky can dwell in its shade.”

11th Sunday of Ordinary Time - Father's Day
Dear John,
The words of Jesus, cited here, point to growth as the key to all life. The small seed not only becomes a large plant, but even provides cool shade for the birds. In a few days, the season of summer officially begins, and in summertime we see life in abundance.
Let us not forget that today we celebrate Father’s Day, too. As we thank our fathers and pray for them, we are reminded of what a privilege and responsibility it is to bring new life into the world, and provide a home and shelter for our families.
Indeed, fathers in a very special way share in the creative and loving power of God. May they be the best of fathers. May they share and show God's love and care to their children, and to each and every one of God’s children.

Heavenly Father, bless all fathers, and inspire them to have some of the virtues toward their children that You have toward us. May they watch over their children, illumine their ignorance, and encourage them in their just concerns, thus leading them to true Christian adulthood. We ask this in the name of Your Son, Christ our Lord.
Amen
