From CMMB: EMERGENCY in Haiti

“I’ve never seen Haiti in the condition that it’s currently in.”
- Denis, 47

Cars set on fire. Roads blocked. The international airport shut down. This is the scene on the streets of Port-au-Prince, Haiti right now.

As you might have heard, after months of economic and political turmoil, Haiti is in crisis. The greatest contributing factor? An extreme fuel shortage.

The people who are suffering the most are women and children living in places like Côtes-de-Fer. Our hospital there, the Bishop Joseph Sullivan Center for Health, is already feeling the harmful effects of this gas crisis. The hospital relies on gas to keep the lights on. So with no gas, that means there is no power for operating rooms, medical equipment, or ambulances to transport patients.

Without gas, pregnant women who need emergency C-sections could lose their life or their newborn. Children needing life-saving surgery may not make it. Babies who need oxygen will not be able to breathe.

Baby Fedline and her sister Judeline in Côtes-de-Fer
We need to raise $12,000 so our hospital can stay in operation long enough to get through this crisis.

Our team in Port-au-Prince and Côtes-de-Fer continue to courageously and selflessly serve the patients at BJSH—but they need gas to keep the hospital open and keep saving lives. Due to the crisis, gas prices have skyrocketed. Every day, the hospital’s fuel reserves get lower. The crisis is growing - but you can help, right now.
