40 Days For Life: DAY 28: St. Patrick and YOU

Today we celebrate the great missionary who brought Jesus Christ to Ireland... ...and share what's possible when YOU are a missionary for the unborn! A woman in Rogers, Arkansas, stopped by the 40 Days for Life vigil to tell Maribel that years ago, she found out she was pregnant. A single mother to two children and facing financial concerns, she came to Planned Parenthood seeking an abortion. "Planned Parenthood scheduled an abortion for her in Kansas and even [booked] her hotel room," wrote Denise, the Rogers campaign leader. But the weekend before she crossed state lines for her abortion appointment, she went to church...and saw a 40 Days for Life sign-up table. The display touched her heart. "I can't have an abortion," she thought to herself. "It's murder." The mom canceled her appointment and instead placed her child for adoption. A couple struggling with infertility adopted her baby. "They send pictures," Maribel said. "She says he is a cute little boy and in a very good home, [so] she doesn't have to live with the regret of abortion." The life decision provided happy endings for two different families. "She will not endure the lifelong regret of killing her unborn baby, and it was an answer to prayers for an infertile couple who longed to have a baby," Denise reflected. "Just by a 40 Days for Life sign-up table. Praise God!" Mostar, Bosnia   The Mostar campaign team held a "Way of the Cross for the Unborn" prayer event, which drew about 300 participants! "People of all generations...walked the path toward the large cross, [contemplating] Christ's passion and praying for the life of every unborn child," wrote the Mostar leadership team. "Among the participants were doctors, medical staff, and people from public and social life, which [sent] a strong message of unity and responsibility." The campaign reports two babies saved from abortion this Lent! Newport News, Virginia Standing vigil with the Newport News 40 Days for Life campaign, Carolyn had a powerful opportunity to speak and pray with a woman who had just had an abortion. "She was very sad," Carolyn recalled. "She knew that abortion was the wrong choice. ... I let her know how much the Lord loves her." Two days later, a truck filled with five-gallon buckets pulled into the abortion facility parking lot. Carolyn assumed he was there to paint or repair the dilapidated abortion facility. Instead, he approached the vigil and explained that he is a beekeeper and the buckets were full of honey--which he shared with the prayer warriors. He also prayed with the campaign volunteers. "He was searching for God, and one day God revealed the awesome wonder of His creation through observing his bees." Catonsville, Maryland The Catonsville campaign opened with a kickoff rally featuring a visit and talk from 40 Days for Life general counsel Matt Britton. Longtime vigil leader Kim said the event is still paying dividends. "The Catonsville, Maryland, campaign was uplifted by a recent visit from Matt," she said. "Two young adults who listened to Matt speak were so inspired that they came back to the vigil." And this time, they brought a friend! Peter got out of the boat and began to walk on the water toward Jesus. But when he saw how [strong] the wind was he became frightened; and, beginning to sink, he cried out, "Lord, save me!" --Matthew 14:29-30 Thank you, Lord, for my doubt, which allows me to practice faith. Hear my prayer for expectant mothers. Give them the courage to walk in faith. Help them to see the nobility of their motherhood.
