CINCINNATI, July 10 /Christian Newswire/ -- On July 14, 2008, LEARN (BlackGenocide.org) along with Dr. Alveda King (Niece of the late Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.) and leaders of other pro-life groups will hold a press conference on the public sidewalk in front of the Duke Energy Center. Also, pro-life advocates will picket the NAACP from 9am-2PM in front of the Convention Center.
Historically, the NAACP has failed to address the concerns of many of its delegates about abortion. In 2004, the NAACP issued a resolution voicing support for "equal access to abortion" and urged its members to participate in a pro-abortion rally in Washington, DC. In 2007, the NAACP, for the second time in four years, blocked a proposed resolution expressing opposition to abortion. The good news is the NAACP's Macon chapter is once again poised to present another pro-life resolution at this year's Cincinnati conference and we will be there to support them.
Press Conference Supporting Macon Chapter Pro Life Resolution:
Who: LEARN (BlackGenocide.org) with Dr. Alveda King, and other group leaders
What: Speeches in support of the Macon, GA chapter pro-life resolution.
Where: Public sidewalk in front of the Duke Energy Center
When: July 14, 2008 from 10:00 am-11:00 am
LEARN Statement:
"We hope to show the need for the NAACP to allow discussion at the convention the detrimental health ramifications of abortion. The physical and psychological maladies caused by abortion are deliberately hidden from unsuspecting women. The NAACP needs to bring up the Macon Chapter's pro-life resolution this year. The delegates must have an opportunity to vote on this important measure. We will make it clear that there are delegates that want this issue addressed." -- Rev. Clenard H. Childress, Jr.

Were there to be no support in the whole history of ethical and moral thought, were there no acknowledged confirmation from medical science, were the history of legal opinion to the contrary, we would still have to conclude on the basis of God's Holy Word that the unborn child is a person in the sight of God. He is protected by the sanctity of life graciously given to each individual by the Creator, Who alone places His image upon man and grants them any right to life which they have.
