DEACON FOR LIFE

Were there to be no support in the whole history of ethical and moral thought, were there no acknowledged confirmation from medical science, were the history of legal opinion to the contrary, we would still have to conclude on the basis of God's Holy Word that the unborn child is a person in the sight of God. He is protected by the sanctity of life graciously given to each individual by the Creator, Who alone places His image upon man and grants them any right to life which they have.

Priest sounds alarm on Obamacare, 'statist aggression' By Matt C. Abbott

I first want to ask for prayers for Father John Trigilio, the priest-author and EWTN personality who's also been a contributor to this column. According to a report, Father Trigilio was critically injured in an automobile accident in recent days.

The following commentary was sent to me by Father Phillip W. De Vous, pastor of St. Joseph Parish in Crescent Springs, Ky. It will hopefully spark some interesting and thoughtful discussion. I thank Father De Vous for his contribution to this column. (Incidentally, in case anyone is wondering, I voted for Rick Santorum in the Republican presidential primary.)
