With the penitential
season of Lent upon us, let's respond to Jesus' call to repentance and
conversion through the three traditional pillars of prayer, fasting,
almsgiving. Our sacrifices, united to God's plan, glorify God in ways
that we may never even see.
A few days ago, as a
sign of our repentance, ashes were applied to our foreheads in the sign
of the cross with an exhortation: "Remember you are dust and to dust you
will return." These words re-orient our minds and hearts to God's plan,
a life of holiness and fidelity. We will not always know or understand
the full impact when we strive for holiness --when our works are
dedicated for His glory. But be assured:
For this reason he is mediator of
a new covenant: since a death has taken place for deliverance from
transgressions under the first covenant, those who are called may
receive the promised eternal inheritance (Hebrews 9:15).
Consider the impact of
our sacrifices and penitential efforts when we embrace Christ's great
commands, to love God and to love our neighbor. It's this fidelity that
enables us to impact and transform the culture from one of death to a
Culture of Life!
This week's stories of
impact, remind us that our continual conversion to Him, through Him and
with Him is how we build the Culture of Life in our own communities and
around the world. Soon I will share some stories from our mission trip
to Namibia, where Our Lord is doing some great things.
Let's increase our prayer, fasting, and almsgiving in ways that
show, as Christ's followers, we are deeply rooted in Christ. I want to
assure each of you of my prayers during this Lenten season, praying that
our works together will glorify God as we defend life and family in
this great mission!

LEZHE, Albania - Shortly after Pope Francis had visited
this country with its "long path of suffering," notably under the
dictatorship of Enver Hoxha, I gave a talk in Lezhë, a mostly Catholic
town in North-Western Albania. But my talk focused on another kind of
dictatorship - the dictatorship of relativism and the false notion of
freedom that leads to the killing of the weak to preserve the freedom of
the strong. Every seat was occupied in the Basilica of Lezhë, and
thanks be to God half of them were further moved to participate in a big
prayer rally afterwards. For the first time ever, pro-lifers marched
for life from the Basilica to the hospital where abortions are
performed. It is scandalous when doctors kill on one floor, yet serve to
deliver babies on another! It would be a great grace from Heaven to
make this absurdity visible to the entire town. -continue-

An estimated 118.5 million people watched Katy Perry's performance at
this year's Super Bowl half-time show- the largest audience in
television history.The pop icon's parents are Pentecostal ministers who
tried, and failed, to shield her from secular influences. Perry began
her career as a Gospel singer with aspirations to be the next Amy Grant.
But she said that when "it didn't work out, I sold my soul to the Devil." Did
Perry mean that literally? Perhaps not, but her life took a definite

According to Dr. Rene Bullecer, the director of HLI Philippines,
Filipino youth are the main targets of the controversial Reproductive
Health (RH) Law. To combat and neutralize the law's evil effects on
children and teens, Dr. Bullecer plans to launch Pilipinas Caravan for
Youth & Life. Although the program will begin with only
Bullecer's humble program car, he said, "Every great mission begins with
