Were there to be no support in the whole history of ethical and moral thought, were there no acknowledged confirmation from medical science, were the history of legal opinion to the contrary, we would still have to conclude on the basis of God's Holy Word that the unborn child is a person in the sight of God. He is protected by the sanctity of life graciously given to each individual by the Creator, Who alone places His image upon man and grants them any right to life which they have.

Duc in altum! “Put out into the deep!”
are the words of Christ to Simon Peter, commanding him to lower his
nets into the sea. Peter did as the Lord told him, but not before
expressing doubts, for he and his companions had been fishing all that
night, without success. But, when Peter and his companions hauled up
their nets, the nets began to break, so great was the catch of fish.
Astonished at the miracle, St. Peter cast himself at the feet of the
Lord: “Go away from me, Lord; I am a sinful man!”
