FROM LIFENEWS.COM:

Barack Obama's Abortion Position Could Result in Closing Catholic Hospitals
Washington, DC (LifeNews.com) -- Barack Obama told Planned Parenthood in July 2007 that the first piece of legislation he would sign would be the so-called Freedom of Choice Act, a bill that would overturn pro-life laws nationwide. One little-discussed aspect of the ramifications of the bill could see the closing of Catholic hospitals. Both sides of the abortion debate readily admit the measure makes unlimited abortions throughout pregnancy a national law and legal right, and that it would invalidate virtually all abortion limits approved by state legislatures in all 50 states. But the bill could have the affect of closing down Catholic hospitals that refuse to do abortions. Here's how: As Cardinal Justin Rigali of the Archdiocese of Philadelphia warned in September, the FOCA bill "forbids government at all levels to 'discriminate' against the exercise of this [abortion] right 'in the regulation or provision of benefits, facilities, services, or information.'" Michael Moses, a top attorney for the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops, adds that the language of FOCA is so far-reaching that it will remove any conscience clause measures from state laws that protect doctors, hospitals and medical professionals who don't want to be involved in abortions. Moses' reading of the proposed legislation is that if abortion is a fundamental right that can't ever be infringed, then every hospital and medical center must do abortions -- including Catholic and other religious or private hospitals that object to do them. Teenagers Will be Victimized by Secret Abortions Under Barack Obama Admin
by Matt Barber
It's a day like any other. The kids are safe at school and you're at work wishing you weren't. All is as it should be. Then your cell phone rings. On the other end is your twelve-year-old daughter's junior high school guidance counselor. Amid nervous hemming and hawing you detect that something's horribly wrong. Then the words, "I'm sorry, she didn't make it." At first it doesn't register. Then it clicks and your soul is pierced. The room begins to spin and rapidly close in. You sink deep and grab for something. But nothing on this earth will hold you up. Nightmare becomes reality as you learn that your little girl has just bled to death ' alone and afraid ' on a cold slab at the local Planned Parenthood clinic, the victim of a botched abortion. She was driven there, unbeknownst to you, by the very guidance counselor to whom you speak. You didn't even know she was pregnant. Like any child in her shoes, she was afraid to tell you afraid of what you'd think afraid you'd be ashamed. So she told someone else. Someone she trusted. Someone she thought cared for her. Someone who decidedly did not. No one called. No one asked. No one said a word. They didn't have to. They killed your baby and your baby's baby in secret. You feel powerless. You should. You are. It was all legal, you see, and there's not a thing you can do about it nothing. As Tuesday's election fast approaches, you're officially on notice. It's not a question of whether similar scenarios will play out under an Obama presidency. It's a question of how often and to what degree. Full story at LifeNews.com

Nebraska Catholic Bishop Curtiss: No Reason to Vote for Pro-Abortion Pols
Omaha, NE (LifeNews.com) -- Yet another Catholic bishop has drawn the line on how Catholics should vote in the upcoming election and Catholic Archbishop Elden Curtiss of Obama, Nebraska says Catholics should vote pro-life. He says there is no reason to support a pro-abortion candidate, like Barack Obama. In a statement issued today, Archbishop Curtiss called abortion the number one issue voters should consider this election. "At the core of Catholic moral and social teaching is respect for the sacred dignity of every human life," Curtiss said. "In this election, like many before it, we are faced with a conflict of values in candidates. There are many serious issues at stake in this election, but none is more important than abortion." "Almost 50 million babies have been aborted in the United States since 1973, an unfathomable loss of human life that increases by more than a million every year," he added. He also tackles the caveat that many Catholic voters have misused to justify a vote for Obama and says there is no justification for voting for a pro-abortion candidate. "It is also true that if a Catholic does not share a candidate's stand in favor of abortion and/or euthanasia, a vote for that candidate could be permitted 'in the presence of proportionate reasons,'" he explains. "However, I cannot conceive of a proportionate reason that could outweigh the deaths of nearly 50 million children killed by abortion." Full story at LifeNews.com
