Franciscan University Gives Annual Award to Local Crisis Pregnancy Center
Steubenville, OH (LifeNews.com) -- Franciscan University of Steubenville has chosen a local pregnancy center as the recipient of this years Poverello Medal. AIM (Assistance in Motherhood) Crisis Pregnancy center will receive the award, the highest non-academic award given by Franciscan University, which has been previously presented to Blessed Mother Teresa of Calcutta and Dorothy Day. "This year we are recognizing local organizations, but each one touches people nationally and beyond," said Father Richard Davis, TOR, vice president of Community Relations for Franciscan University. "Like a rippling effect of a stone dropped in water, their efforts exemplify St. Francis' admonition to 'preach the Gospel at all times, and when necessary, use words.'" AIM Crisis Pregnancy Center offers pregnancy testing, assistance to mothers and children, adoption referrals, a chastity program, and Rachel's Vineyard retreats to families in eastern Ohio, western Pennsylvania, and West Virginia.
