From the start of the debate on healthcare reform, I made two things very clear. Congress should address the shortcomings and future funding problems with Medicare before creating new entitlement programs and expanding those that we know do not work. The second is that the debate and negotiations on healthcare reform should be done openly and with as much input from the American public as possible. Healthcare is too personal and too important of an issue to ignore the input of 150 million Americans.
Unfortunately, that is exactly what the Democrat Majority in both the House and the Senate are doing. As you read this, Speaker Nancy Pelosi, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid and Obama Administration officials are meeting behind closed doors to decide the fate of healthcare in America. They are doing this despite repeated promises to make this process the most open and transparent in history. President Obama promised the American public on numerous occasions that the healthcare debate and negotiations would be televised on C-SPAN because he had nothing to hide. Just incase you missed President Obama making this promise, here is the video (http://www.breitbart.tv/the-c-span-lie-did-obama-really-promise-televised-healthcare-negotiations/).
This is yet another example of President Obama saying one thing to the American public and doing the other behind closed doors with his Democrat cohorts in Congress. I will continue to push for increased transparency and televised negotiations but this appears to be another promise the President will fail to deliver. I'm keeping count, are you?
