'Vote Pro-life' Coalition of Organizations Forming

WASHINGTON, Jan. 15 /Christian Newswire/ -- Declaring that it is time for the Culture of Life to gain ground at the voting booth, Fr. Frank Pavone, National Director of Priests for Life, announced today that a "Vote Pro-life" Coalition is forming to assist organizations, Churches, and individuals to foster Christian political responsibility.

"For years, Priests for Life has been working with groups like National Right to Life, Susan B. Anthony List, Wallbuilders, National Clergy Council, National Pro-life Religious Council and many other organizations to foster political responsibility. This year we will both continue and enhance this collaboration. The "Vote Pro-life" Coalition will assist organizations and individuals to advance activities like:

a) Non-partisan voter registration drives in Churches and through other organizations;

b) Educating candidates and voters about life issues and their critical importance;

c) Informing voters about the positions of candidates on key issues;

d) Getting voters to the polls during early voting and on Election Day, November 2, 2010.

All of the training and activities of this coalition will be conducted within the limits of what Churches and other tax exempt entities can do within IRS guidelines.

The Coalition will designate specific weekends of the year as "Voter Registration Sundays" and will also coordinate a major prayer campaign of nine weeks from September 1 to Election Day, November 2.

The Coalition has formed a Facebook cause at www.causes.com/voteprolife and will also sponsor a teleseminar for the general public on Monday evening, January 25, from 9 to 10pm ET.

This is a call that people can join either by phone or by internet. Fr. Frank Pavone will be joined by David Barton of Wallbuilders and Marjorie Dannenfelser of the Susan B. Anthony List and will talk specifically about:

a) Why 2010 can be a year of significant progress in the political arena;

b) What obstacles the pro-abortion forces are likely to put in the way of the Church and the pro-life movement;

c) Exactly what you can do as an individual, in your pro- life organization, and in your Church to promote political responsibility.

"Now is the time to get started," Fr. Pavone stated, "and we need all hands on deck!"
