RU-486 abortions lead to 14 maternal deaths, 2,207 adverse effects: FDA report

Life Site News

Fourteen U.S. women have died after taking RU-486 and a total of 2,207 reported adverse effects after using the drug, according to a report from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration released this summer. The FDA report, released in mid-July, shows a significant rise in women who have been subjected to "adverse effects" resulting from taking RU-486 since the previous report in 2006 noted 1,100 women.  Approximately 1.52 million women have used the abortion drug through the end of April 2011.

Abortion victim's father launches website on 11th anniversary of RU-486 legalization

Jill Stanek

In conjunction with the 11th anniversary of the legalization of RU-486 in the U.S., the father of a young woman who tragically died as a direct result of taking the abortion pill has launched an educational website, AbortionPillRisks.org.

In 2003, 18-yr-old Holly Patterson died of septic shock seven days after she took RU-486 at a California Planned Parenthood. Since then there have been nine other reported deaths in the U.S. due to sepsis (serious blood infection).

Holly's father Monty has been an unswerving advocate for women since his daughter's death, tirelessly educating the public and elected officials on the harm of RU-486.
Planned Parenthood attacks Congressman behind investigation

Life News

In a new fundraising email in response to his beginning a congressional investigation, the president of the Planned Parenthood abortion business is aggressively attacking the congressman who called for it.  About the letter Planned Parenthood received weeks ago, Richards says, "Representative Cliff Stearns (R-FL), the chairman of a House oversight committee, just sent us a letter announcing that his committee has started an 'investigation' of Planned Parenthood and demanding that we hand over financial and other records from every Planned Parenthood health center. He's grasping for something, anything, he can use to discredit, damage, or destroy us."
