Poll: Perry Leads Republicans, Romney Better Against Obama
The first new national poll following last week s third Republican presidential debate featuring pro-life Texas Gov. Rick Perry shows him still leading the GOP 2012 hopefuls. However, the survey has Mitt Romney as faring the best in a matchup against Barack Obama.
Perry is still at the top of the Republican list of presidential candidates despite turning in what most political observers believed was another lackluster debate performance. Still, the new CNN/ORC national poll finds Perry in front with the backing of 28 percent of Republican voters.
Romney comes in second with the support of 21 percent of Republicans, Newt Gingrich follows with the backing of 10 percent, Herman Cain enjoys the support of 7 percent, as does Ron Paul and Sarah Palin, who is not seeking the Republican nomination at this time. Rep. Michele Bachmann of Minnesota is at four percent, former Sen. Rick Santorum of Pennsylvania receives three percent, and former Utah Gov. and ambassador to China Jon Huntsman is last at one percent.
Without Palin in the mix, the survey shows similar results: Perry would be at 30 percent, Romney 22%, Gingrich 11%, and the other candidates remain in single digits. The poll was conducted Friday through Sunday, after last Thursday s debate in Orlando, Florida.
Did Perry s performance in the most recent debate affect the horse race? Maybe yes, but maybe no, says CNN Polling Director Keating Holland. Perry s support is down just two points, and Romney is up only one to three points and since all those numbers are well within the sampling error, it doesn t look like much has changed, possibly because average voters aren t as plugged into the debates as political junkies are. If the debates have had an effect, it may be mostly in favor of Gingrich, whose support went from 5 percent in mid-September to 10 percent now. http://www.lifenews.com/2011/09/26/poll-perry-leads-republicans-romney-better-against-obama/
Life Chain Returns to Share Pro-Life Message on Abortion
At more than 1,800 locations throughout the United States, pro-life advocates will join together in the annual Life Chain to peacefully, prayerfully, and quietly hold signs conveying the message Abortion Kills Children.
With other messages like Abortion Hurts Women, Pray to End Abortion, and Jesus Forgives and Heals, Life Chain participants have educated millions of passing motorists as they line the streets and sidewalks of cities large and small across America. The goal behind the event, which started in California decades ago, is to gather pro-life people of all faiths to share the message that abortion destroys the lives of unborn children, hurts women and that adoption is a better solution.
The 24th National Life Chain is a silent witness of the Christian community standing in honor of 54 million babies whose lives have been lost to abortion, the organization sponsoring the event says. Participants hold professionally-printed signs that are provided at each site and pray for human life to be held sacred in our nation.
Mike Kofroth, Life Chain state director for Wisconsin, says the event, which will take place on October 2nd in the mid afternoon in most cities has a powerful impact on people.
Since the start of Life Chain in Milwaukee, I have seen its most powerful influence has been on those who hold the signs and not the general public, he said. This influence is most critical on our children as they participate year after year, he said, adding that it can affect the public debate in ways beyond what we at first may realize. http://www.lifenews.com/2011/09/26/life-chain-returns-to-share-pro-life-message-on-abortion/
Planned Parenthood Makes $155 Million Doing Abortions
The media continues to sugarcoat Planned Parenthood s almost-singular focus on abortion. On the media s watch, the nation s largest chain of abortion facilities continues to operate with our tax dollars while killing millions of innocent unborn babies. But thanks in part to the Internet; the faithful work of pro-lifers continues to expose the truth behind the deception.
My pro-life friends at Live Action recently dismantled Planned Parenthood s favorite talking point that abortion accounts for only 3% of their services. The abortion industry giant could slyly arrive at this fuzzy math simply by stating that they hand out 97 condoms for every 3 abortions performed.
But their pro-abortion spin doesn t work in business terms when crunching the numbers.
According to their own figures, in 2009 alone, Planned Parenthood performed 332,278 abortions. That s like wiping out the population of a sizeable city. Since the average cost of an abortion was $468, Planned Parenthood s total abortion income that year was $155,506,104. In light of their total health center income of $404,900,000, Planned Parenthood made out like bandits with abortion, which generated 38.4% of this total revenue.
One of the Live Action team made a convincing analogy when comparing Planned Parenthood to the business world. http://www.lifenews.com/2011/09/26/planned-parenthood-makes-155-million-doing-abortions/
Cain Wins Florida Straw Poll, Romney Wins in Michigan
In two key straw polls conducted yesterday in Florida and Michigan, businessmen Herman Cain and Mitt Romney came away the winners as Rick Perry, the Texas governor, finished second in both surveys of Republicans.
The polling results are the latest blow for the Perry campaign, which many Republican political observers say has taken a hit with three straight poor debate performances and the pro-life advocate enduring aggressive attacks from his pro-life rivals on other political issues. The Perry campaign, if it wants to return the candidate to his frontrunner status he obtained after jumping the race, will have to work overtime to re-establish the traction it once had.
Cain, the pro-life former Godfather s Pizza CEO swept the Republican Party of Florida s Presidency 5? straw poll today in Orlando, capping off his strongest fundraising and grassroots week since the establishment of his campaign in May 2011. Cain took the straw poll with 37.11 percent of the vote. http://www.lifenews.com/2011/09/25/herman-cain-wins-florida-straw-poll-romney-wins-in-michigan/

Legislation Responding to Kermit Gosnell Gets Pro-Life Push
A pro-life group in Pennsylvania joined with state lawmakers today for a press conference to promote legislation the state House needs to pass that responds to the grisly abortions and infanticides at Kermit Gosnell s facility.
Gosnell faces multiple murder charges for killing a woman in a failed abortion and seven unborn children after purposefully inducing birth so he could take their lives in a ghastly abortion-infanticide procedure. His wife, who worked at the Women s Medical Society abortion business with him, and staffers also face charges ranging from murder to obstructing justice to practicing medicine without a license.
Gosnell s abortion center was inspected only after a federal drug raid in 2010. It was the first time the facility had been inspected in 17 years because state officials ignored complaints and failed to visit Gosnell s Women s Medical Society for years.
Now, the Pennsylvania state legislature is examining legislation that would subject abortion businesses to the same higher health and safety standards applied to legitimate surgical facilities.
For the sake of women s health and safety, we commend legislators who are taking a stand against unsafe practices at abortion facilities, Michael Ciccocioppo, the director of the Pennsylvania Pro-Life Federation, told LifeNews. Countless numbers of women were harmed at Kermit Gosnell s West Philadelphia abortion facility. This legislation goes a long way toward protecting women from harm from the abortion industry. http://www.lifenews.com/2011/09/26/legislation-responding-to-kermit-gosnell-gets-pro-life-push/
Abortion s Death Toll: 53 Million U.S., 400 Million in China
Being pro-life means dealing with the overwhelming macabre results of the abortion industry s rampage on innocent human live. The number of lives lost is beyond incredible: over 53 million in the U.S. since 1973.
More evidence that pro-abortionists deal casually with the truth about their deadly campaign is their constant charge that the pro-life movement is engaged in a war on women.
They might want to be more careful about who they accuse of waging a war since the casualties are piling up only on one side.
As tragic as the more than 53 million lives cut short in the U.S., there is the grim reality acknowledged by a former Chinese official during a congressional Budget Committee meeting. The Chinese official stated that the population of China is 400 million fewer people than it would have been because of China s one-child policy. http://www.lifenews.com/2011/09/26/abortions-death-toll-53-million-u-s-400-million-in-china/
New Brutal Cases of Forced Abortions Documented in China
Women s Rights Without Frontiers has released a groundbreaking new report setting forth more than a dozen new cases of forced abortions and other human rights abuses associated with the one-child policy in China.
The report includes thirteen new, documented cases of coercion: forced abortion (including one woman at eight months and another carrying twins at 8 ½ months), forced sterilization, forced contraception, the use of quotas, Family Planning Police, Family Planning jail cells, the demolition of homes, and the use of implication (detention, torture and fining of relatives of violators ). Several of these cases are documented with extensive photographs as well.
Women s Rights Without Frontiers released this report at the Congressional Hearing on the One Child Policy, held September 22, 2011, before the House Committee on Foreign Affairs, Subcommittee on Africa, Global Health and Human Rights.
Commenting on the report, Littlejohn stated, We have chosen to release the names of the perpetrators of these crimes against humanity, so that they can be held accountable before the world. http://www.lifenews.com/2011/09/26/new-brutal-cases-of-forced-abortions-documented-in-china/

Undercover at Pro-Abortion Meeting: What The Other Side Says
On Thursday, Sep. 15, Planned Parenthood of North Texas hosted a presentation by Nancy Northup, president of the Center for Reproductive Rights, to discuss their lawsuit against the state of Texas s new sonogram law. The event, called Trust Texas Women, was held at the First Unitarian Church of Dallas, and I attended, ostensibly as a concerned pro-choicer, although no one asked me my affiliation. http://www.lifenews.com/2011/09/26/undercover-at-pro-abortion-meeting-what-the-other-side-says/
