Bishops, Pro-Lifers Vow to Continue Fighting Obama Mandate
Despite a vote in the Senate against overturning it, nation s Catholic bishops and leading pro-life groups vow to continue fighting the Obama mandate that forces religious employers to pay for birth control and drugs that may cause abortion.

Leading pro-life organizations called on the Senate to vote for the Blunt amendment to the mandate the Obama administration issued, but Democrats banded together against Republicans to defeat it on a 51 to 48 margin by adopting a motion to table, or kill, it.

The need to defend citizens rights of conscience is the most critical issue before our country right now, said Bishop William Lori of Bridgeport, Connecticut who is the chair of the Ad Hoc Committee on Religious Liberty of the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops. http://www.lifenews.com/2012/03/02/bishops-pro-lifers-vow-to-continue-fighting-obama-mandate/

Biden: We Screwed Up Conscience Issues in the Mandate
Vice President Joe Biden spoke to students at Iowa State University yesterday afternoon and admitted that the Obama Administration screwed up on protecting rights of conscience when the Obama administration issued its controversial mandate.

I was the one that was tasked to meet with the National Conference of Bishops, and others and Cardinal Dolan, to talk about this, Biden said in videotaped remarks that are making their way across the Internet today. The fact of the matter is, the ultimate resolution to this problem is where it should have been in the first place. http://www.lifenews.com/2012/03/02/biden-we-screwed-up-conscience-issues-in-the-mandate/

Senate Cmte Votes to Put Architect of Roe on Appeals Court
A Senate committee voted Thursday for the latest pro-abortion nominee President Barack Obama has appointed to the nation s highest courts.

Obama added to his pro-abortion record by placing yet another abortion activist in nomination to a top federal appeals court this time a lawyer credited with helping craft the Roe v. Wade decision. He appointed Andrew Hurwitz to the 9th Circuit Court, the most liberal appeals court in the country based in San Francisco and covering laws approved in western states.

The Senate Judiciary Committee voted 13-5 yesterday to approve Hurwitz as a candidate for a vacancy on the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in San Francisco. Now his nomination heads to the full Senate, but a debate over recess appointments could stall it there. http://www.lifenews.com/2012/03/02/senate-cmte-votes-to-put-architect-of-roe-on-appeals-court/

Dutch Mobile Euthanasia Units Will Visit People s Homes
Euthanasia is so pervasive in the Netherlands that mobile euthanasia units are now visiting people s homes in an effort to make it easier for someone to take their livings by killing them before natural death.

As the London Guardian newspaper reports:

A controversial system of mobile euthanasia units that will travel around the country to respond to the wishes of sick people who wish to end their lives has been launched in the Netherlands. http://www.lifenews.com/2012/03/02/dutch-mobile-euthanasia-units-will-visit-peoples-homes/

Abortion and Food Stamps Don t Elevate the Black Community
Planned Parenthood loves its history. It s why they will never repudiate it, but instead, repeat it over and over again. With undying devotion from mainstream media, Planned Parenthood increases its brazenness in pushing its brand of ideological slavery.

Recently, they released their crock-umentary A Vital Service featuring an all-black cast extolling the virtues of an organization that profits from killing, disproportionately, black babies. Targeting black people is nothing new. Planned Parenthood s been doing it since its founder, a member of the deeply racist American Eugenics Society, started recruiting black ministers and influential leaders to tout her (false) birth control solution to poverty. This week, the Negro Project 2.0 has taken a deeper dive into the surreal. http://www.lifenews.com/2012/03/02/abortion-and-food-stamps-dont-elevate-the-black-community/

China to Soften One-Child Policy Marketing, But Not the Law
The government in China is working to soften it approach to marketing the one-child policy that results in forced abortions and sterilizations but appears to have no plans to actually scale back the controversial law itself.

According to one report:

China s communist party newspaper, People s Daily, reports that the government will revamp its abrasive-sounding slogans surrounding the policy.

People s Daily cites several examples of harsh slogans, including those which sometimes even threaten criminal acts. The newly instituted program, slugged the face-washing project, will offer more proactive slogans to help enforce the policy, which has been in place since 1979. China claims the policy, which applies to those living in urban areas, affects approximately 35.9 percent of the population and has resulted in an estimated 400 million fewer births since first being implemented. http://www.lifenews.com/2012/03/02/china-to-soften-one-child-policy-marketing-but-not-the-law/

40 Days for Life Campaign Bringing Together All Christians
David Bereit, the 40 Days for Life national director, and I are in Iowa today celebrating the closure of TWO Planned Parenthood abortion centers that have been the sites of 40 Days for Life campaigns.

One of the reasons 40 Days for Life has such an impact in communities is because of strong leadership from local pastors.

I ve seen a lot of courage this spring at kickoff events I ve spoken at, where pastors of Baptist, Catholic, Presbyterian and many other Christian churches shared the Word of God and challenged their congregations to be part of 40 Days for Life. http://www.lifenews.com/2012/03/02/40-days-for-life-campaign-bringing-together-all-christians/

Prominent Abortion Backer Slams Ultrasound-Rape Comparison
When even a veteran pro-abortionist says no more, we can at least hope that it may signal a return to a sane discussion of ultrasound legislation in general, Virginia s ultrasound bill in particular. http://www.lifenews.com/2012/03/02/prominent-abortion-backer-slams-ultrasound-rape-comparison/

Abortion Practitioners Fined in Texas for Shoddy Medical Care
The Texas Medical Board has levied fines of $3,000 each against two abortion practitioners, Alan H. Molson and Robert E. Hanson, after investigations of their abortion clinics found them to have violated standards of patient care. http://www.lifenews.com/2012/03/02/abortion-practitioners-fined-in-texas-for-shoddy-medical-care/

Florida House Passes 24-Hour Waiting Period for Abortions
The state of Florida is moving ahead with more pro-life legislation to cut the number of abortions after the state legislature there approved a number of bills in the 2010 session that the governor signed. http://www.lifenews.com/2012/03/02/florida-house-passes-24-hour-waiting-period-for-abortions/

Indiana Abortions Drop Three Percent in 2009, New Data Shows
The Indiana State Department of Health has released its 2009 abortion statistics and there is reason to be both encouraged and concerned. http://www.lifenews.com/2012/03/02/indiana-abortions-drop-three-percent-in-2009-new-data-shows/

Vending Machine Abortions: Selling Plan B With Candy Bars
You ve heard me talk almost non-stop over the last two weeks about this huge threat to religious liberty from this administration, requiring employers to provide contraception and abortion-inducing medication for their employers. http://www.lifenews.com/2012/03/02/vending-machine-abortions-selling-plan-b-with-candy-bars/

Pro-Lifers: Don t Just Rely on Slogans To Defend Your View
Don t you hate it when pro-choice advocates refuse to defend their views past one or two levels of argument? This has happened to me many times, and it s aggravating because the topic of abortion is so serious. Lives are literally on the line, yet some people are too intellectually lazy to spend more than two minutes attempting to ground their views in something deeper than bumper sticker slogans. http://www.lifenews.com/2012/03/02/pro-lifers-dont-just-rely-on-slogans-to-defend-your-view/

Man Whose Girlfriend Asked Him to Cause Miscarriage Faces Charges
When a 17-year-old girl in her seventh month of pregnancy was denied an abortion because her pregnancy was too advanced, she hired 24-year-old Arron Harrison to hit her in the stomach in order to induce a miscarriage. Harrison hit and bit the girl repeatedly, injuring her, but the baby survived. Now the little girl has been adopted and Utah s judicial system has struggled to find a resolution in this unusual case. http://www.lifenews.com/2012/03/01/alaska-teen-abortions-down-usage-of-ru-486-drug-increases/

Man May Get 10 Years for Killing Girlfriend s Unborn Baby
Timothy Kindle, 23, from Converse County, Wyoming, is facing up to 10 years in prison and/or $10,000 in fines for allegedly killing his girlfriend s unborn baby. According to police, Kindle, who had a history of committing domestic violence, repeatedly beat his 17-year-old partner over the course of several months with the intention of causing her to miscarry. http://www.lifenews.com/2012/03/02/man-may-get-10-years-for-killing-girlfriends-unborn-baby/
